Former NFL running back Zac Stacy was held on $10,000 bail and forced to surrender his passport in his first appearance in court Friday after he was arrested when footage showed him brutally beating his ex-girlfriend and throwing her around an apartment in a jealous rage.
Shocking home surveillance footage shows Stacy, 30, repeatedly punching Kristin Evans and tossing her into the TV and their son's bouncy seat as she begged for him to stop on Saturday.
Stacy was arrested by police in Orlando, Florida, on Thursday evening upon arriving at Orlando International Airport on an inbound flight from Nashville after Evans, 32, pleaded for help in tracking her ex down who she suspected was being hidden by his friends.
The former NFL player made his first appearance in the Ninth Circuit Court in Orange County, Florida Thursday.
Stacy's attorney, Thomas Luka, said that his client had no prior record, arrests or convictions and called it an 'isolated incident,' despite a police affidavit confirming they had received multiple reports from Evans of domestic violence at the hands of Stacy.
The lawyer also added that Stacy, who was managing a gym, is not wealthy and asked for standard release conditions.
Stacy's bond was set at a combined $10,150 for the two charges against him. He will likely remain in jail for the time being, as a condition of his release is surrendering his passport, which Stacy claimed is currently still in Tennessee.
As of Friday evening, Luka remained in custody while his passport was being flown down from Tennessee to Florida.
The former running back is currently living at an Airbnb in Tennessee. The court ordered that he remain there upon release and inform the state if he moves.

In a phone interview with DailyMail.com, Luka said that there's still more information to be released than what the public has seen.
'Not all of the facts have come out in this case, not yet, anyway,' Luka said. ' There's still a lot of discovery to do. We don't know if the videotape is the complete video tape, we don't know if it's been edited or altered in anyway. We'd like the complete, undocumented, unedited video, as well as any statements made directly after in this matter. There's also some mental health components in this case that need to be explored and once those come out a clearer picture of what transpired will arise.'
Evans spoke publicly in a statement Friday morning in which she implored NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell to take issues with mental health and brain injuries seriously in current and former players.
She said: 'Thank you for supporting my children and me during this difficult time. Our safety is the number one concern right now. After a terrifying experience, I am grateful that Zac Stacy is currently in police custody. At present, I have filed a restraining order and plan on filing a civil complaint. I am sincerely asking the NFL and football commissioner Roger Goodell to confront the reality that players are experiencing PTSD from their time playing pro-football. In particular, as linked to repeated concussions, brain injury, and other bodily trauma, as it causes symptomatic changes to the players' character, including increased irritability, angry outbursts, and aggressive behavior.'
Evans alleged that that Stacy was 'voluntarily hospitalized for mental illness' for a month in March of 2021 and is taking medication for his afflictions.
Speaking to DailyMail.com Thursday, Evans did not think that his football career was responsible for his mental issues but that they may have exacerbated them.
The former fifth round pick faces two felony charges of aggravated battery and criminal mischief, according to an affidavit. If convicted, he could face up to 20 years in prison.
Police said Stacy 'struck [Evans] on the right side of her head, and picked her up and threw her against the television, causing it to crack and fall over.'
'He continued yelling at her and striking her while she got up from the floor, and picked her up again and threw her into the baby's bouncy chair,' the arrest affidavit says.
Evans claimed in a restraining order filed on Monday that Stacy has been abusing her since she was pregnant with her son, saying that the attacks were escalating and that 'he will kill me.'
Photos from an alleged incident in August show cuts and bruises all over her body after what she says was an argument over rent money.
'He physically assaulted me several times because he wanted the money back he gave me for our rent,' she wrote in the restraining order application.
'He punched my legs, slapped me, picked me up by my arms, and threw me into my window, which broke. I had glass in my feet that I removed myself,' Evans continued.
She also claims that she was slapped across the face in September.
In the document, Evans writes: '[Stacy] has escalated violence since May while I was pregnant. He also assaulted me just weeks before our son was born. He will not stop. He will kill me and he feels justified in his actions.'
