A New Jersey man is fighting for his life in hospital with COVID-19, despite being vaccinated against the virus.
Francisco Cosme, 52, was vaccinated with the single-shot Johnson & Johnson vaccine on March 6 - travelling from his home in Edison, New Jersey to Manhattan for the jab.
The vaccine is considered effective after two weeks and Cosme continued to follow the CDC advice about social distancing and face masks.
Yet his daughter, Michelle Torres, 31, told The New York Post that he fell ill on April 1.

'He had a cough, fever, chills, everything,' she told the paper.
Torres drove her father to a clinic where he tested positive for COVID-19 and he was instructed to quarantine for ten days.
His condition continued to deteriorate, and last week she noticed her father struggling to breathe, and called 911.
Cosme was given oxygen and taken by ambulance to John F. Kennedy Medical Center in Union City, New Jersey.
Torres said her father was in critical condition and being treated for pneumonia.
'I'm trying to hold it together, everyday you don't know what is happening,' she told the paper.
'The doctor said they did all they can do it and it's up to him to fight and up to God.'
Torres told the Post her mother, her husband, and her children have also all tested positive for the virus.
'We survived the whole year without it [the vaccine] - doing all the things we are supposed to so do: social distancing, washing hands, and masking up,' she said.
'It's crazy and we need answers.'
She did not specify whether he had any pre-existing conditions.
The Javits Center is one of the largest of the mass-vaccination sites set up in the New York area
None of the COVID vaccines currently being administered are 100 per cent effective.
On April 4 Ashley Allen, 31, tested positive for COVID, despite having received her one-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine at the Javits Center on March 10.
However, the Johnson & Johnson vaccine is believed to be 100 per cent effective in preventing severe cases of COVID, such as Cosme's.
'The vaccine had high efficacy at preventing hospitalization and death in people who did get sick,' the CDC currently state on their website.
'No one who got COVID-19 at least 4 weeks after receiving the J&J/Janssen vaccine had to be hospitalized.'
