Black Guns Matter founder explains why gun-free zones don’t work

Black Guns Matters founder Maj Toure says that gun-free zones don't work and that a vast majority of mass killings have taken place in gun-free zones.

Toure discussed his points Thursday on Fox Nation's "The Liberty File" with Judge Andrew Napolitano.
Former New York City Police Commissioner Bernie Kerik also appeared on the Thursday episode.

What did he say?

During a discussion about the mass killings that took place in El Paso, Texas, and Dayton, Ohio, over the weekend, Toure pointed out that Walmart is a gun-free zone.
Toure, who founded Black Guns Matter — a pro-gun organization that aims to educate people in urban areas about their Second Amendment rights — told Napolitano that gun-free zones don't work because it leaves those people unprotected should something happen similar to what occurred in El Paso over the weekend.
"It exposes a tremendous contradiction," Toure said. "We're in a space where we're saying freedoms are OK for smaller amounts of people, but freedoms are not OK for larger amounts of people."
Toure, who called the hypocrisy "disgusting," later added that people should be permitted to exercise their Second Amendment rights as guaranteed by the U.S. Constitution. He used citizens of Philadelphia and New York City as examples, explaining that Philadelphia residents are more easily able to obtain legal firearms than people in New York City, and said that New York City is a "slave state" when compared to Philadelphia.
"Free men and women own guns — slaves do not, and if your government is doing more and more things to make it harder for you as New Yorkers to defend yourself from bad guys, they are saying 'We want you to be a slave state,'" he insisted.
"Since 1991, when these gun-free zones were put into place by Bill and Mr. Biden — that was his legislation — over 90 percent of mass shootings have been in gun-free zones," Toure added. "They do not work."
