Progressives are taking aim at famed actress Scarlett Johansson for denouncing the prominent role political correctness plays in Hollywood.
In an interview with As If magazine, the 34-year-old actress lamented changes in the film industry from her time as child actress until now, which culminated in being on the receiving end of PC outrage after accepting the role of a transgender person for the film "Rub & Tub."
"You know, as an actor I should be allowed to play any person, or any tree, or any animal because that is my job and the requirements of my job," Johansson explained, according to the Daily Mail. "I feel like it's a trend in my business and it needs to happen for various social reasons, yet there are times it does get uncomfortable when it affects the art because I feel art should be free of restrictions."
Johansson then took direct aim at political correctness.
"I think society would be more connected if we just allowed others to have their own feelings and not expect everyone to feel the way we do," she said.
After outrage, Johansson later removed herself from "Rub & Tub." However, it wasn't the first time she was criticized for accepting a film role. She was also bashed for playing the lead role in "Ghost in the Shell," a Japanese-based sci-fi film.
What was the response to Johansson's comments?
Progressives on social media mocked and ridiculed the actress.
I will not be seeing any films that involve Scarlett Johansson moving forward. I do not want to give my money to someone who trivializes the oppression of trans people and diminishes the importance of our visibility.— Charlotte Clymer🏳️🌈 (@cmclymer) July 13, 2019

Then LGBQLOL people should not play straight people.
ReplyDeleteThat would mean a hellava lot of actors/actresses will NOT be seen in movies for years as there will not be enough roles for them to play!!!
ReplyDeleteYep! I agree, homosexuals should not play heterosexuals or even bi-sexuals and vice versa.
ReplyDeleteSarc.
To object to what she said shows how fucked your mind truly is.
The damned lbgtpq brigade all need to shut up and get back in the damned closet!!
