Meghan Trainor faced a backlash after she said “f*** teachers” when discussing her decision to homeschool her 2-year-old child, then apologized and said it isn’t how she really feels.

During the 29-year-old singer’s recent podcast episode “Workin’ on Motherhood” with brother Ryan and guest Trisha Paytas, they talked about school shootings influencing her decision to homeschool her son, Riley.

“F*** that. Everyone on TikTok is,” the pop singer said about pulling children out of traditional schools.

“They’re like, ‘this is what it’s like to have a kid in school in America. I have a bullet-proof backpack?'” she added. “I was like, ‘f*** all that.'”

Paytas and Trainor both said they were bullied by teachers when they were students, then Trainor said, “f*** teachers, dude.”

However, the “All About That Bass” hitmaker said she felt differently when it came to homeschool instructors who help parents.

“There are so many teachers out here that are so nice and kind and that will come to your house,” Trainor said. “Let’s save our kids.”

After clips of the show appeared on YouTube, teachers reacted in the comments section and said they were upset with Trainor’s remarks.

Trainor reacted to the criticism and posted an apology on TikTok.

“Teachers of TikTok and teachers of the world. I recently said ‘F teachers,’ on the podcast,” the pop star said. “And it’s not how I feel. I was fired up because we were talking about how sending your kid to school, here, in America, is so horrific. And what all of us have to go through, but especially teachers, is not normal and not okay.”

“I had Trisha Paytas on the podcast and I knew her history with her teachers, and I knew my husband’s history with his teachers, and I was bullied by some teachers, so in that moment, I got angry and said ‘F teachers – F those specific human beings back in the day,'” she added. “But I did not mean that to all teachers. I love teachers. I fight for teachers. I think they have the hardest job and they’re the most underpaid. They’re the most unappreciated, when they literally raise all of us.”

Trainor is married to actor Daryl Sabara.
