A Florida man with a large tattoo of the state on his forehead was arrested after repeatedly calling 911 to get a ride home, before he was eventually found to have 20 grams of marijuana on him.

Matthew Leatham, 22, called police at around 4.20am on Sunday to ask them for a ride to his New Port Richey, home.

Leatham reportedly cussed at the dispatcher during his first call to police, prompting the call taker to provide him with the non-emergency number for future reference, a criminal complaint reads.

A police officer offered to call Leatham a ride home but he informed the officer that he had no money on him.

Leatham began walking home, before calling 911 again to request a ride.

An officer responded to the scene as Leatham was on the phone with the dispatcher.

Upon seeing that the man was not suffering an emergency, the officer arrested Leatham and proceeded to search him.

It was then that the officer located the 20 grams of marijuana on his person, testing the drug to determine whether it was actually cannabis.

Leatham was charged with misuse of the 911 system as well as possession of marijuana.

He has since been released on $300 bond.

Social media pages associated with Leatham show that his outlandish Florida tattoo started as an upside down cross.
