Leftists Now Pushing Green New Deal on State Level & They Just Got Their 1st Victory

The disastrous and embarrassing Green New Deal resolution, which Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez introduced in part, turned out to be a massive failure.
By failure, I mean that not only did it fail to pass in the U.S. Senate, but many Americans — even on the left — didn’t want it to happen. Why? Because it would crush an untold number of jobs in the energy sector, leaving middle-class, hard-working American families in a bad situation.
But that doesn’t mean the GND warriors on the left have given up. In fact, they’ve changed their strategy from pushing it to a state level and recently scored their first victory, according to Daniel Turner’s opinion piece for Fox News.
Environmental groups across the country have figured out how to get a deal similar to the Green New Deal, and it involves cashing in favors with Democratic governors and state legislators.
Turner implied that’s what happened in New Mexico in March when Democrat Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham signed the GND-like bill, known as the “Energy Transition Act.” The new law will require the state to transition to 100-percent carbon-free energy.
In other words, it’s a carbon tax. That phrase isn’t typically used because it’s not voter-friendly.
As Turner points out, this type of radical law will hurt more than it helps. From increased utility bills and loss of state revenue to thousands of lost jobs for energy workers, it’ll mean drastic change for the state.
In the mean time, green energy companies will line their pockets — and their CEOs probably won’t lose much sleep over it.
Turner summed up the new strategy perfectly.
“Green groups have effectively rebranded ‘carbon tax’ as ‘renewable energy mandates’ and to get the same results: the end of fossil fuels. Force the elimination of low-cost energy sources and mandate high-cost renewables. Send the bill to customers. Say it’s ‘for the earth’ and voilà, green energy companies get rich,” he wrote.
While this type of bill might work for some states, ones that have vast oil, coal and gas reserves would suffer greatly.
What if this kind of bill was passed in a state like Wyoming or Virginia? The ramifications would be unspeakable for its residents, who depend on the coal industry to survive.
But the shadowy eco-warriors plotting to pass these bills state by state apparently don’t care about everyday people, because deals such as this make a select few who are involved wealthy.
“Some people will get very rich if the ‘Green New Deal’ were to become law. We should all be curious who those people are. And which politicians they financially back,” Turner wrote. He’s right on the money.
The passage of this bill needs more attention so that American voters are in the know. Right now, they’re generally unaware it’s happening. Even scarier, it could spread quickly.
For the sake of America’s strong economy, it’s time to expose these groups and block the shadows in which they work.

  1. The Governor of NM is certainly not wrapped too tight to go along with this garbage.....But she's a DemoCommunist....so of course she thinks it the best thing since sliced bread and will push it down her state's throat to their immense detriment.
