 Even though America is considered one of the most influential countries in the world, its passport isn’t so much. Many passport holders from other countries can enter others without a visa. Here are 17 passports more powerful than the American passport. 

France

The French passport takes the top spot for the strongest passport in the world. This is supported by Visual Capitalist, which writes, “While Japan and Singapore ranked first for the last five years, four European countries—France, Germany, Italy, and Spain—climbed the ranks this year.”

Germany

Germany ranks number two on the list of the strongest passports in the world. People with a German passport can visit 194 countries without needing to obtain a visa. It shows how much freedom is available for Germans, making travel a far easier process for them.  

Italy

The Italian passport is one of the most powerful passports in the world and Italians have access to 194 countries without needing a visa. This passport also allows Italians to travel across Europe without the need for a visa, where they can stay anywhere in the EU for as long as they want. 

Japan

Japan used to hold the top spot for the world’s most powerful passport, but this has recently been replaced by European countries. However, the Japanese passport is still the most powerful in Asia. It shows Japan’s strong diplomatic ties with the world and allows the Japanese to travel freely. 

Singapore

AFAR tells us that the Singapore passport doesn’t need a visa for 194 countries. It ties in with some of the other top passports in the world and has maintained this high ranking for years. Anyone with a Singaporean passport can travel to many regions without any restrictions at all.  

Spain

Spain is another country that allows its residents to visit 194 countries without a visa. The Spanish passport reflects the nation’s diplomatic success, which has allowed it to have open travel policies. The country also has strong travel freedom in Europe, where those with a Spanish passport can travel anywhere in the EU with zero restrictions. 

Finland

The Finnish passport falls slightly short of the top destinations by allowing its residents access to 193 countries without a visa. This passport is the most powerful in the Nordic countries and gives its people easy mobility around the world. Finland has also increased its travel freedom recently, thanks to its stability in diplomatic relations. 

South Korea

South Korea’s passport gives its holders access to 193 countries without a visa. Along with Japan and Asia, it’s one of the most powerful passports in Asia. South Korea has strong diplomatic relations with many countries in the world, which is why its residents can enter many other countries without a visa.

Sweden

Sweden ties with Finland and South Korea for passport strength, as people with this passport can enter 193 countries without a visa. This passport reflects the impact Sweden has on diplomatic relations, which has given it the freedom to enter many countries with a visa. It provides seamless travel in Europe and around the world. 

Austria

According to VisaIndex, Austria can have visa-free travel in 192 different countries around the world. This reflects Austria’s strong diplomatic ties and global travel freedom. This passport allows Austrians easy movement when it comes to traveling, not just in Europe but around the world.  

Denmark

Danish passport holders can gain access to 192 countries without needing a visa. This makes Denmark’s passport one of the most powerful in the world, which is due to its strong diplomatic relationships. The Danish passport allows for easy travel among Schengen countries, where people can stay in these countries as long as they want.

The Irish passport is another that offers Irish access to 192 countries without needing a visa. Ireland’s passport has huge amounts of strength, which is what gives its passport holders so much freedom across the world. It allows seamless travel across Europe and many other parts of the world.

Guide Consultants writes, “The Belgian passport is currently ranked 5th among global passports, according to the Guide Passport Ranking Index.” It’s ranked this high because it allows Belgians to enter 191 countries without a visa. It’s a strong passport that allows seamless travel across Europe and many other countries.

Those with a Norwegian passport can access 191 countries without needing a visa before travel. Norway has a strong passport thanks to its diplomatic ties, allowing for freedom when traveling. Holders of the Norwegian passport can travel effortlessly through Europe and the majority of the world.

There are very few restrictions on the United Kingdom’s passport, thanks to its strong diplomatic ties.
