‘Delusional’: Biden Says Southern Border Is Not In Crisis As Illegal Crossings Surge

President Joe Biden told reporters on Saturday that there was no crisis at the southern border even as illegal crossings surge to record-highs.

As he was leaving for Camp David, Biden was asked by Fox News reporter Lucas Tomlinson whether he considered there to be a crisis at the southern border. Biden responded by saying that there was no crisis at the border and shifted blame for the situation to Republicans.

“No,” he said. “I have been pushing them – my Republican colleagues since they got in office. I think we have to make major changes to the border.”

Republicans ripped into Biden over his comments, pinning the blame on the Biden administration’s policies.

“[Biden], the architect of the open border crisis, is also delusional if he believes Republicans have not been willing to secure it,” Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI) said. “The truth is that he is the most dishonest, corrupt, and incompetent President in American history.”

“Since President Biden took office, over 6.7 million illegal aliens have crossed our southern border.  There IS a crisis at our southern border. And it’s all at the hands of the White House and the Democrat Party,” Rep. Troy Nehls (R-TX) said

“Ridiculous. There IS a crisis at the border, and it’s of Joe Biden’s making. [House Republicans] passed the strongest border security legislation in decades nearly a year ago. He has ignored it,” House Majority Whip Tom Emmer (R-MN) said

In December, Border Patrol reported over 300,000 encounters with illegal immigrants at the southern border, an all-time high. Record numbers of individuals from China also crossed into the United States in the last year at the same time as thousands of Africans are reportedly taking flights into Central America before looking to cross into the U.S.

Many of the illegal immigrants have been released into the United States, straining the infrastructure of small towns and major cities across America. Earlier this wee, New York City placed illegal immigrants in a high school overnight, a decision that forced students to leave early and switch to remote learning the next day.
