Billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk took aim at a controversial comments made by a Minnesota Democrat asserting that being a "good parent" meant listening to children about their gender choices.

The comments were made by Lt. Governor Peggy Flanagan, a member of the far left Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party, in video that went viral after being circulated online.

"Because let's be clear. This is life-affirming and life-saving healthcare," said Flanagan to a group of supporters.

"When our children who they are, it our job as grownups to listen and to believe them," she continued. "That's what it means to be a good parent."

Flanagan received applause from her supporters but not from many on social media, who completely rejected her formulation of what it meant to be a "good parent."

Among those dissenters was Musk, who responded in a tweet from his official social media account.

"Not when they’re fed propaganda by adults. Moreover, every child goes through an identity crisis before their personality/identity crystallizes," he tweeted.

"Therefore, we shouldn’t allow severe, irreversible surgery or sterilizing drugs that they may regret until at least age 18," he concluded.

Others excoriated Flanagan for undermining the authority of parents in raising their own children.

"When your kid says he's Superman, don't throw him off the roof to see if he flies," responded Dan McLaughlin of National Review.

"When your children are growing up, it is up to you to carefully guide them and not turn them over to the liars and butchers conducting the appalling surgeries," tweeted Jordan Peterson.

"Adults who think we should blindly listen to children about anything without thought and consideration... Are not adults. They are infantile, silly, dangerous individuals that should never be in positions of power over anyone," replied Pradheep Shanker of National Review.

"That mentality would change immediately if their kid came out as a Trump supporter," said Kate Hyde.
