A Texas woman has been charged with murder after she fatally shot her neighbor for allegedly stealing her 'bouncy house.'

Nora Lee Lopez, 30, turned herself in to the Austin Police Department on Friday after police issued a warrant for her arrest for the murder of her 52-year-old neighbor James Traylor.

APD and Austin-Travis County EMS were called to the scene last Monday at 8:10 am after multiple shots were fired.

Authorities found a black man, later identified as Traylor, with multiple gunshot wounds at the scene and rushed him to Dell Seton Medical Center at the University of Texas where he succumbed to his wounds, according to the police department.

The Travis County Medical Examiner's office conducted an autopsy and confirmed Traylor's cause of death as a homicide from multiple gunshots.

A witness told police that Lopez and Traylor got into a fight over the alleged theft of a 'bouncy house,' before she shot him multiple times and fled the scene.

An arrest warrant for first-degree murder was issued for Lopez until she eventually turned herself in.

'They sounded like, 'bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang,' Like that,' Henry, a neighbor, told KXAN

Henry said he stayed in his house nearby and heard six shots.

'It's a rough neighborhood,' Henry said.

Another neighbor, who wished to remain anonymous, was also not surprised that a shooting occurred in the 'rough' neighborhood. He said there were children around when Lopez fired the shots.

'I don't want them around gunshots, none of that,' the neighbor said.

'I don't want to see the world like this, I don't want to see people keep dying,' he added. 'They're doing things with guns that they can't change. It's going to live with them for the rest of their life.'

Traylor's death was Austin's 77th homicide of 2021. Homicides in the city jumped 64 percent from the first six months on 2019 to the same time period in 2020, according to the Wall Street Journal

The rise of crime follows a national trend as homicides increased 30 percent around the country, the largest single-year increase the FBI has recorded since it began tracking crimes back in the 1960s.
