'Rich people problems': Chrissy Teigen is slammed over 'out-of-touch' posts about her eyebrow transplant surgery - as critics point out other people are 'suffering' and 'trying to pay their bills'

Chrissy Teigen is facing backlash for showing off the results of her eyebrow transplant as critics pan her for publicizing her 'rich people problems' while others are suffering and struggling to pay their bills ahead of the holidays.

The 35-year-old cookbook author revealed on her Instagram Stories on Sunday that she had undergone a hair transplant procedure to fill in her eyebrows after tweezing them all off.

Teigen, who tagged her doctors Dr. Jason Diamond and Dr. Jason Champagne, shared before-and-after shots of her new look while warning teenagers not to overpluck their brows as she did.

The model is known for being candid about her life, including her cosmetic surgeries, but a number of Twitter users found her post about her eyebrows to be 'out of touch with reality.'

'The world is going to hell in a hand basket but thank heaven that Chrissy Teigen was able to transplant her eyebrows!' one person sarcastically tweeted.

'I am so thankful that #chrissyteigen was able to get an eyebrow transplant. What a tragic nightmare she has been going through!!!' another added.

'Saw the headline of an article yesterday that @chrissyteigen got an eyebrow transplant,' someone else tweeted, using the hashtags #richpeopleproblems and  #tryingnottojudge. 'Me? Trying to continue to pay bills and live life.'

Teigen shared a series of clips of herself posing for the camera following the procedure, which involved hairs being transplanted from the back of her head to her eyebrow area.

'I never wear makeup if I can avoid it so I was so excited for this eyebrow transplant surgery,' she captioned her first post.

The Sports Illustrated Swimsuit alum then posted pictures of her brows 'right after surgery,' saying: 'A little dark from the pencil but its so cool to have brows again [sic].'

Social media response: One person called the post an example of 'rich people problems,' while another said this was 'very on brand' for her

'Teens: do not pluck them all off like I did!!' she warned.

Critics were quick to point out that having sparse eyebrows was hardly a serious issue, though Teigen ever said it was.

One Twitter user noted that many people battling diseases don't have hair or eyebrows at all, herself included.

'Who give a dam! All these people suffering, and trying to pay they bills. They have real problems. I don’t have eyebrows. I have thyroid disease. And I don’t care. That a real problem. Chrissy Teigen needs to disappear. For Real [sic],' the woman tweeted.

'You’re so out of touch with reality it’s literally disgusting,' someone else commented. 'The things I see you post are non relevant. I always tell my 11 yr old not to look up to people like you or your type. You’re seriously a cancer. BTW, this is totally in response to the eyebrows post.'

Teigen's latest criticism follows the outrage she faced for throwing a 'tone-deaf' Squid Game-inspired party for her celebrity friends earlier this month.

She and her husband John Legend, 42, hosted the bash organized by the event planning company Wife of the Party at their $17.5 million home in Los Angeles.

Guests dressed up as the characters from the South Korean series and played high-stakes children's games like they do in the dystopian series about indebted players taking on a life-or-death competition for cash.

The internet was quick to call out Teigen for her 'tone-deaf' celebration while pointing out the irony of the ultra-wealthy masquerading as the poor, desperate characters from the show.

'I'm sorry rich people are literally so tone deaf,' one critic tweeted. 'Squid Game was literally about people whose lives were so awful because of being poor that they’d rather play a game of literal life or death to escape going back to poverty and chrissy teigen is really reenacting it in her mansion.'

Another Twitter user said: 'Taking personal offense at the complete lack of self awareness Chrissy Teigen must have in order to throw a Squid Game-themed party where she watches her rich friends "fight to the death." The commentary just writes itself...'

Guests included Modern Family's Jesse Tyler Ferguson and Pretty Little Liars' Shay Mitchell, according to People

Servers were costumed as the show's anonymous henchmen and the party was decorated with a huge piggy bank full of cash hovering above, just like in the show.

Social media from the event revealed that the guests had been competing for a trip to Napa and dinner at the Michelin-starred French Laundry restaurant.

One person added: 'Usually I’m a fan of Chrissy Teigen but there’s something super f**ked up and weird about spending the weekend cosplaying Squid Game with your incredibly rich friends.'

BuzzFeed was among the first news outlets to report on the criticism online, and Teigen responded to the story on both Instagram and Twitter over the weekend.

She shared articles that bashed the media company and also accused the site of hypocrisy for publishing other articles that make light of the series.

One Twitter user noted that Teigen lashing out at BuzzFeed while posting about her eyebrow transplant was 'very on brand' for her.

'Chrissy Teigen being mad at BuzzFeed for talking about her morally oblivious Squid Games party and angrily posting stories about them while also posting about getting a hair transplant surgery on her eyebrows (seriously) is just very on brand,' the person wrote.

Teigen has been the target of backlash since her abusive tweets originally made in 2011 resurfaced online, including one that urged a then 16-year-old Courtney Stodden to kill themselves.

Stodden recently claimed that Teigen had yet to personally apologize for her actions, but Teigen told TMZ in September that she had 'reached out' to her via text.

During the same interview, Teigen was asked about Addison Rae being slammed for introducing herself to Donald Trump at a UFC fight.

'I have decided I'm not getting involved in anyone's s**t ever again,' she replied.

Teigen attempted to right a few of her wrongs with an apology shared to Medium in June — which was her first time speaking out since taking a social media hiatus after a host of bullying allegations came to light.

'Hi all. It has been a VERY humbling few weeks,' she wrote. 'I know I’ve been quiet, and lord knows you don’t want to hear about me, but I want you to know I’ve been sitting in a hole of deserved global punishment, the ultimate "sit here and think about what you’ve done."'

She added: 'Not a day, not a single moment has passed where I haven’t felt the crushing weight of regret for the things I’ve said in the past.'
