Former President Trump hit back at the House Jan. 6 probe on Monday saying it was an attempt to distract Americans from President Biden's failings and said the attack on the Capitol would never have happened if intelligence warnings were heeded.

Critics were quick to point out on social media that the people in charge included Trump himself on Jan. 6.
But the former president pointed to reports that a U.S. Capitol Police whistleblower wrote to congressional leaders last month criticizing the agency's chiefs for failing to share intelligence and not doing enough to support officers caught in the trouble.
'Why is the just released bombshell January 6th whistleblower report being ignored by the mainstream media? Based on this high ranking Capitol Police official’s report, these partisan hearings must stop at once,' asked Trump, going on to repeat his familiar complaint that the investigation amounted to a witch hunt.
In fact, the details of the whistleblower's complaint have been extensively reported by major news outlets since being revealed by Politico last week.
The 16-page letter accuses Sean Gallagher, the Capitol Police’s acting chief of uniformed operations, and Yogananda Pittman, its assistant chief of police for protective and intelligence operations, of deliberately choosing not to help officers under attack.
'A lot has changed since January 6,' said a spokesperson for the force in response to the allegations.
'Although there is more work to do, many of the problems described in the letter have been addressed.'
Earlier longtime Trump aide Dan Scavino condemned reports that he was trying to avoid a subpoena.

Scavino blasted the media and suggested the Jan. 6th committee was leaking disparaging information about him, after a process server was finally able to deliver legal documents to Mar-a-Lago, where the Trump aide says he spent six days over the last period of time.
'FACT: The dangerous and false narrative of me trying to avoid or evade a subpoena is a disgrace. I can only wonder where it came from, and what their goal was,' Scavino tweeted Sunday night,' he tweeted adding an inquisitive face emoji.
'Not ONE attempt was made to contact/serve me when I was at Mar a Lago for 6 days, or home in NY for 8 days thereafter!' he wrote.
Last week, former White House strategist Steve Bannon said he would not cooperate with a subpoena, saying Trump had 'executive privilege.

The committee specifically wants to know about Trump attempting to convince members of Congress not to certify the 2020 election, as well as his whereabouts on the day of the Capitol riots and any other communications his administration had in the days leading up to the violent rally on January 6.
