Some 'Angry' Democrats Turn On Maxine Waters, Fear Her Remarks Will Cause Violence, Be Politically Devastating (Cartoon)

Rep. Maxine Waters really stepped in it over the weekend when she commented on the Derek Chauvin trial and literally called for more “confrontation” in the streets if he’s not convicted on one of the two murder charges he currently faces.

Waters took immediate backlash from a number of high-profile Republicans, including House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, in the wake of her comments. McCarthy and others vowed to initiate disciplinary action against the California Democrat if House Speaker Nancy Pelosi failed to do so.

However, the situation escalated again this week, as according to the Daily Wire, a number of House Democrats are “so angry” with Waters and her comments — because those comments could be used in the future to overturn a murder conviction — that it’s being suggested that they’re willing to back McCarthy and other Republicans in attempting to strip her of her high-profile committee assignments.

“Some Democrats conceded privately they are not pleased with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) saying that Waters shouldn’t apologize,” Fox News reporter Chad Pergram said. “Fox is told that a lot of Democrats are angry at Waters, are concerned about the optics of potential violence being linked back to her and Democrats generally.”

Not only could Waters’ remarks be used against her in future legal proceedings — specifically in an appeals suit if Chauvin is convicted — but her very obvious calls for more violence on the streets would come back to haunt Democrats for the foreseeable future, as widespread protests, violence and riots are expected no matter what the outcome of the verdict might be.

“One knowledgeable Democrat told Fox that some Democratic members are so angry at Waters now that they would relish the opportunity to censure her,” Pergram added. “So, McCarthy’s censure resolution may actually have legs.”

Democrats in toss-up districts and those who are considered moderates, who are worried about optics for the upcoming 2022 midterms, are likely the most affected by Waters’ poor decision making over the weekend and it’s not a stretch to presume that they might fall in line with Republicans who want to punish Waters for what she did.

The fear of Waters tainting the party isn’t without precedent, either, as a number of moderate Democrats publicly slammed Pelosi and other radical members of the party in the wake of the absolute beating they took in the 2020 election, blaming the progressive element of the party for pushing the anti-cop, pro-protester narrative that obviously didn’t sit well with most Americans.

However, none of that stopped Waters from doubling down on her inflammatory, outright false remarks that she made on Monday, as she claimed during an interview that Republicans were only trying to skew her words in order to raise money for the “KKK” and “white supremacists.”

She then hilariously played the victim card.

“I am not worried that they’re going to continue to distort what I say. This is who they are and this is how they act… and I’m not going to be bullied by them.”

The bottom line is that Waters is either astonishingly stupid or she’s entered the senile period of her life. She’s like that old woman or man who has completely lost any sense of a filter and I think most people would agree that the last people we need running the country are those who literally should be in an assisted-living facility or nursing home.
