New York Police Department union boss just exploded on the Democrats and the media. While he didn’t explicitly name them it’s obvious who he was referring to.
Other than Mitt Romney you don’t see a whole lot of Republicans marching against trumped up charges of systemic police brutality and racism.
NYPD union chief Mike O’Meara nailed it when he said “We all read in the papers that in the black community, mothers are worried about their children getting home from school without being killed by a cop. What world are we living in? That doesn’t happen. It does not happen!”
O’Meara is of course right. There is no epidemic of police brutality and violence against innocent members of the black community.
“I am not Derek Chauvin. They are not him. He killed someone. We didn’t,” O’Meara continued. “We are restrained. And you know what? I’m saying this to all the cops here. Because you know what? Everybody’s trying to shame us.”
“The legislators. The press. Everybody’s trying to shame us into being embarrassed of our profession. Well you know what? This isn’t stained by someone in Minneapolis. It’s still got a shine on it, and so do theirs. So do theirs.”
O’Meara then hit it out of the ballpark when he added “Stop treating us like animals and thugs, and start treating us with some respect! That’s what we’re here today to say. We’ve been left out of the conversation. We’ve been vilified. It’s disgusting.”
O’Meara nailed it and he’s right to be furious. The media and the Democrats have vilified the police and it is disgusting.
Here’s the truth about police shootings of blacks that the media is hiding, via Larry Elder at PJ Media:
There is no “epidemic” of racist cops killing black suspects. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, police killings of blacks declined almost 80% from the late ’60s through the 2010s, while police killings of whites have flatlined.
Meanwhile, in 2017, according to the CDC’s National Vital Statistics Reports, non-Hispanic blacks were eight times more likely to be a victim of homicide (homicide death rate: 23.2 per 100,000) than non-Hispanic whites (homicide death rate: 2.9 per 100,000).
The No. 1 cause of preventable death for young white men is accidents, like car accidents and drownings. The No. 1 reason for death, preventable or otherwise, for young black men, is homicide, almost always at the hands of another young black man.
In 2018, there were approximately 7,400 black homicide victims, more than half of the nation’s total number of homicides, out of a black population of 13%. Of that number, the police killed a little over 200 blacks, and nearly all of them had a weapon or violently resisted arrest.
So basically all of the anti-police sentiment we see in Minneapolis and around the country from the left is all based on a lie.
Every police boss and union chief needs to be shouting this message from the top of their lungs, every moment of every day until this nonsense stops.
