New York police officer was arrested this week and charged with assault after the Albany Police Department released video footage showing him viciously beating an unarmed man who had placed his hands above his head.
Local ABC affiliate News 10 reports that Albany Police Officer Luke Deer now faces felony assault charges after body camera footage showed him shoving a 27-year-old man named Armando Sanchez to the ground then then hitting him repeatedly in the head.

Deer and several other Albany police officers were on the scene responding to a noise complaint at a home on First Street in Albany. While responding to the complaint, people who were inside the residence refused to open the door for police, which prompted the officers to kick the door in.
After this, officers got into altercations with at least two other people on the scene, one of whom allegedly encouraged others in the house to fight against the officers.
Shortly afterward, Sanchez exited the residence and stood in the street. In the video, he can be seen walking backward while facing Deer with his hands raised in the air.
Despite this, Deer shoved him to the ground — and when Sanchez stood up, Deer punched him in the face several times.

In addition to Deer, two other officers who responded to the incident have now been suspended without pay.
