MSNBC hosts appeared audibly stunned Tuesday night when they saw the early vote counts in Florida’s Miami-Dade county, which typically goes for Democrats but appears to be shifting red.

“I’m told we just got Miami-Dade, we got Miami-Dade, this is a big one in Florida, let’s take a look at—” MSNBC correspondent Steve Kornacki said before someone off camera was heard gasping and exclaiming, “Wow.”

“Yeah, so let’s put this in some perspective,” Kornacki began, explaining how in 2016, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton won the county by 30 points. “It began shifting to the Republicans in 2020…and look at this, in the mail-in and early vote, which tends to be more Democratic friendly, Marco Rubio the Republican is outright leading in Miami-Dade County by seven points over Val Demings, the Democratic challenger.”

Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis is reportedly up by 8 points in the county with approximately 66% of the votes counted. DeSantis lost Miami-Dade four years prior by 20 points.
