Newly-announced “Fox News Sunday” anchor Shannon Bream took to Twitter to celebrate her most recent career move — and she shared a dose of humility that helped to get her to where she is today.

The network announced on Thursday that Bream would be the permanent replacement for the former longtime “Fox News Sunday” host, Chris Wallace, who left the show and the network last December for a contract with the short-lived streaming service CNN+. Bream, who has often shared her faith both on the air and on social media, revealed how she believed God had brought her to the right place at the right time for this new opportunity.

“Y’all, I got fired from my first tv job, by a man who told me I was the worst person he’d ever seen on tv. He also told me I’d never make it in this business. I was humiliated. I cried … a lot. I prayed … a lot. That man did me a favor,” she began a brief thread on Twitter on Saturday morning. “I had much to learn, and as I spent months getting anyone to return an email or a call I watched my tapes and got real with myself. There is always room for improvement, and believe me I needed it.”

“I got a healthy serving of humility, and learned that God often allows us to walk through valleys — for our own good. That was also true when I spent years in chronic pain and was ultimately diagnosed with a genetic condition that has no cure,” Bream continued, referencing her battle with a chronic eye disease that had once driven her to suicidal thoughts.

“God walks with us through our deepest sorrows, and celebrates with us on our mountaintops. Our circumstances may change, but He never will,” she said. “I’m feeling especially grateful for that this week, and can’t wait to start my new adventure on @FoxNewsSunday.”

Bream, whose January appearance on the show racked up the highest ratings for the year, will be the first woman to helm the show on a permanent basis in its 26-year history — 18 years of which were anchored by Wallace. She is set to leave her current nightly show, “Fox News @ Night,” where the network will rotate in a series of potential hosts until a permanent selection is made.

“Shannon is an outstanding journalist, reporter and anchor who has cultivated a strong and enduring relationship with the FOX News Media audience,” FOX News Media CEO Suzanne Scott said in a statement concurrent with the announcement.
