Sunday night at the 2022 BET Awards, many celebrities chose to use their time to share their emotional response to the Supreme Court’s recent decision to overturn Roe v. Wade

The show’s host Taraji P. Henson, thanked artist Lizzo “for pledging one million dollars to Planned Parenthood,” and said, “It’s about damn time we talk about the fact that guns have more rights than a woman. It’s a sad day in America.”

The celebrities highlighted a recent trend in high-profile individuals being able to define and defend the concept of a “woman” again after woke social movements seemed to make it hate speech towards the transgender community.

Singer Janelle Monáe expressed more raw emotions towards the U.S. Supreme Court. While presenting, as she stated, “These artists making art on our own terms, owning our truth and expressing ourselves freely and unapologetically in a world that tries to control and police our bodies, my body, and our decisions. My decisions. F*** you, Supreme Court.”

Female R&B/Pop Artist Jazmine Sullivan invoked the attention of men in the audience. During her time on stage, she pointed to the convenience of killing unborn children, referring to it as a benefit for men and a right for women.

“As always, I do this for the women,” said Sullivan. “For my sisters especially. It’s a hard time right now for us. I want to speak directly to the men. We need you all. We need y’all to stand up. Stand up for us. Stand up with us. If you have ever benefited from a woman making one of the toughest decisions of her life, which is to terminate a pregnancy, you need to be standing with us. This is not just a woman’s issue. This is everybody’s issue. We need your support more than ever, okay, fellas? Y’all got us? ‘Cause we’ve got y’all.”

These celebrities have joined others who continued to express their views on abortion and apply a value to the lives of unborn children.

The usually unhinged Better Midler has raged online for days, posting multiple responses to the Roe ruling on Twitter.

In one of her recent posts, she appears to have placed an actual value on a child’s life, posting an image that implies that the cost of child support is too high and justifies that a woman kills her unborn child.
