Economists across the country are concerned that we may be heading towards the worst inflation crisis in modern history.  “This is the biggest emerging economic crisis for consumers for over a decade.  The average cost of living for a family of four is up about $5,000 a year so now it’s a choice between heating homes, feeding families, or giving gifts.”  said Burt Flickinger, managing director of the Strategic Resource Group.  Despite a historic inflation crisis, the Department of Defense has cut cost of living allowances for thousands of troops.  Stars and Stripes Reports

“Thousands of U.S. troops will lose a monthly cost-of-living stipend beginning Jan. 1 because fewer locations across the lower 48 states — including the Washington, D.C., metro area — qualified as excessively expensive living areas, according to a Pentagon announcement Wednesday.

The Defense Department will pay out about $8.5 million to some 6,000 service members living in six metro areas and 20 non-metropolitan counties within the Continental United States in 2022, the Pentagon said Wednesday. Some 48,000 service members will drop from receiving the supplement after 15 metro areas and 21 non-metropolitan counties were removed from the list of qualifying locations.”

During the 2020 election, veterans supported Trump by a significant margin over Biden.  A Military Times Poll of veterans released just over a week before the election showed that Trump was favored by a 10 percent margin, 52 to 42 percent to Biden.

Biden’s approval ratings among all Americans continue to plummet as well, with a recent NPR/PBS NewsHour/Marist College poll finding that 55% of Americans disapprove of his job performance.  Another poll showed his approval rating among Independents going down by 8% over the course of one week.
