Target lifts face mask requirement, unless local rules state otherwise

Target will no longer require people to wear face masks if they're fully vaccinated, except where it's required by local ordinances, like in Minneapolis and St. Paul.

Target made the announcement Monday, a few days after the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention updated its guidance for those who are fully vaccinated.

Gov. Tim Walz rescinded the statewide mask mandate on Friday, but some businesses and cities are still requiring them for everyone.

"Face coverings will continue to be strongly recommended for guests and team members who are not fully vaccinated and we’ll continue our increased safety and cleaning measures, including social distancing, throughout our stores," Target said.

Someone is considered fully vaccinated 14 days after their second dose of the Pfizer and Moderna COVID-19 vaccine or 14 days after the single-dose Johnson and Johnson vaccine.

Target is offering COVID-19 vaccine appointments at nearly all the CVS at Target locations. You can make an appointment here
