 HBO Max crashed Sunday night as viewers were logging in for the season finale of the crime drama Mare Of Easttown starring Kate Winslet.

Twitter erupted as fans of the miniseries were greeted with error messages instead of English actress Winslet, 45, portraying detective sergeant Mare Sheehan as she investigates the murder of a young girl and the disappearance of another in Easttown, Pennsylvania.

'Just trying to watch my depressing murder show and HBO Max is having none of it,' one viewer tweeted along with a still of Mare snacking with spray cheese.

Another viewer employed a meme of John Travolta as Vincent Vega looking confused in Pulp Fiction with the heading: '#MareOfEasttown the IT guys at HBO Max right now.'

HBO Max Help on Twitter confirmed the streaming service was down.


'We’re aware some customers may be experiencing issues streaming #HBOMax and appreciate your patience as we work to resolve this as quickly as possible,' HBO Max Help tweeted.

The problem was mostly resolved within an hour and an HBO Max spokesperson told TVLine at 11:15 pm Sunday, 'Some HBO Max users experienced Intermittent service disruptions this evening, but the issue was quickly resolved and service has been restored'.

The ensemble cast of Mare Of Easttown includes Winslet as well as Jean Smart, Guy Pearce, Julianne Nicholson, Angourie Rice, David Denman, Evan Peters, Sosie Bacon, and John Douglas Thompson.

All seven episodes were directed by Craig Zobel.

The series has received widespread critical acclaim with Winslet being singled out for particular praise.

Winslet for the series has convincingly replicated a Philadelphia regional accent known as the 'Delco accent', after Delaware County to the west of Philadelphia.

The Oscar-winning actress also was mentioned in a tweet by a viewer who compared her role in the Titanic to the HBO Max crash.

'Congratulations Kate Winslet for being part of two of the biggest crashes of all time @hbomax #Titanic #MareOfEasttown,' read the post.
