Trump Jr blasts Cuomo as 'groper-in-chief' and says Pepe Le Pew is being 'canceled' instead of the governor - as more staff leave amid sexual misconduct allegations and his publisher stops promoting his COVID book

Donald Trump Jr has labeled Andrew Cuomo the 'groper in chief' after five women accused him of sexual harassment, accusing Democrats of hypocrisy in their caution with Cuomo, compared to their treatment of Republicans facing similar accusations.

The former president's son appeared on Sean Hannity's Fox News show on Monday night, and attacked the New York governor - a frequent sparring partner of his father's.

Trump Jr mocked Democrats for seeking to 'cancel' the Looney Tunes cartoon character Pepe Le Pew - New York Times columnist Charles M. Blow accused the cartoon skunk of having 'normalized rape culture' - but ignoring the accused man in their midst.

Space Jam 2 has cut Pepe Le Pew from their film, and Warner Bros has no films lined up starring the cartoon skunk, Deadline reported.

'The Left is really busy spending a lot of time trying to cancel cartoon characters - last week, Pepe Le Petit - when they could be trying to cancel people who are actually behaving like Pepe Le Pew times ten,' said Trump Jr.

'And that happens to be the governor of New York.'

He spoke after two more women accused the 63-year-old governor of harassment, taking the total number of accusers to five.

Four of them - Lindsey Boylan, Charlotte Bennett, Karen Hinton and Ana Liss - worked for him: the fifth, Anna Ruch, accused Cuomo of harassing her at a wedding.

On Monday, Letitia James, the New York attorney general, announced that former federal prosecutor Joon Kim and employment lawyer Anne Clark would lead an investigation into the allegations. The investigation is expected to take two months.

Trump Jr mocked the Democrats for being hesitant to call out Cuomo.

'It's sort of amazing because on today, International Women's Day, I was beginning to think that the Left don't actually believe all women,' said Trump Jr.

'I sort of feel like they were going to give a pass to Democrat congress people.'

He pointed out that Andrea Stewart-Cousins, the state Senate majority leader, said last week that, 'if another accuser comes out, then he should resign.'

Trump Jr continued: 'Bear in mind three had already done it. So I guess if you're a Democrat governor you get that kind of leeway.'

On Sunday Stewart-Cousins did call for Cuomo to resign.

The Assembly speaker, Carl E. Heastie, also questioned the 'governor's ability to continue to lead this state'.

Cuomo has resisted calls for his resignation, arguing he was elected by the people, not 'by politicians.'

'I'm not going to resign because of allegations,' the governor said on Sunday, calling the notion 'anti-democratic,' and a violation of the due process clause of the Constitution.

'There is no way I resign.'

Trump Jr insisted he was being treated leniently.

'This kind of stuff is disgusting. It has gone along too long,' the 43-year-old said.

'The Democrats get a pass. Those pass are a one-way street: they only go towards Democrats.

If this was a Republican in this situation - whether it was one scandal, both scandals, a fraction of those scandals - this thing would have been over a a long time ago.

'But Andrew Cuomo gets to get away with it.'

Cuomo speculated that there were more people who were 'afraid to come out for the reprisals'.

'You think that people in the Cuomo machine won't go after these people?' he asked.

'I can almost guarantee you there are a lot more that are either just afraid to come out for those reprisals, or don't want to do damage to the Democrat party in New York, which is about as corrupted and ridiculous as it gets.'

Trump Jr spoke as it emerged that the publishers of his book, Leadership - written over the summer, detailing his handling of the pandemic - stopped promoting it.

Crown Publishing Group additionally has no intention of reprinting or reissuing American Crisis: Leadership Lessons from the Covid-19 Pandemic, which was released last October, the company's publisher Gillian Blake told The New York Times in a statement.

The moves by the publisher resulted from 'the ongoing investigation into N.Y.S. reporting of COVID-related fatalities in nursing homes,' Blake told the newspaper.

The investigation into a possible coverup of nursing home deaths during the pandemic is separate to that into the sexual harassment allegations.

Several of Cuomo's staff have departed his administration in recent weeks, as the scandals mounted for the once-lauded governor.

On Monday his top lawyer, Kumiki Gibson, was confirmed to be leaving a job for a non-profit.

Gibson was named Counsel to the Governor in September 2019; her last day is Friday, the governor's office said.

She said she informed them of her departure a month ago.

The departures of press secretary Caitlin Girouard and press aide Will Burns were made public last week.

Gareth Rhodes, a close ally who appeared with the governor at his televised pandemic briefings, left the Cuomo COVID task force last week to return to his position as deputy superintendent of the state Department of Financial Services.
