A British security firm has been accused of tipping off American security forces so they could assassinate Iran’s top security commander.

G4S, which handles security at Baghdad airport, yesterday denied the allegation by the regime in Tehran.

General Qassem Soleimani was blown up by missiles near the airport last January on the orders of Donald Trump, who called him the ‘number one terrorist anywhere in the world’.

Several other officials also died in the drone strike, including Abu-Mahdi al-Muhandis, a prominent Iraqi-Iranian military commander.

Tehran’s prosecutor-general Ali Al-Qasi Mehr told a state news service that G4S ‘was responsible for securing flights’ at the airport and claimed ‘as soon as General Soleimani and his party arrived, elements in the company provided information about them to the terrorists’.

A G4S spokesman said: ‘In response to recent, completely unfounded speculation, G4S wishes to make clear that it had absolutely no involvement in the attack on Qassem Soleimani and Abu-Mahdi al-Muhandis.’

Soleimani, one the most powerful and sinister figures in the Iranian regime, was believed to be planning attacks on US diplomats and military personnel in the region.
