A young mum who claims to be Diego Maradona's lovechild says it is her 'universal right' to know if the football legend was her dad.

Italian Magali Gil said she will never stop until she knows the truth which could leave her with a chunk of his £37million fortune.

She said she wants DNA tests done to prove one way or the other if the late Argentine superstar was her father.

In an Instagram video Magali Gil said: 'Hello, I'm Magali Gil. I decided to make this video and to make the announcement to put an end to all the speculation and theories that have been circulating around my case'

The 25-year-old started legal proceedings in April last year but stepped up her battle for the truth after his death two weeks ago.

In an Instagram video she said: 'Hello, I'm Magali Gil.

'I decided to make this video and to make the announcement to put an end to all the speculation and theories that have been circulating around my case.

'First of all, I want to tell you that my search was always the same, there was never any deviation.

'It was always a matter as simple as resolving my identity: to know if Diego Maradona is my biological father.

'This is a universal right, it's a right which belongs to all of us, to everyone in the world.

'So I ask, demand, that this matter be treated with the respect it deserves.'

Mother-of-one Magali added: 'On the other hand, as far as my case goes, I want to let you know that it continues.

'My case never ceased. It will never stop. I'm not going to stop until I resolve this matter.

'Until I know if Diego Maradona is my biological father or not.

'In conclusion, I ask for respect and empathy, as at the other end there is a person involved.'

Magali was brought up by adoptive parents, but in 2018 her biological mother told her she was Diego's daughter.

She is one of four rumoured offspring and five confirmed children of Maradona who died aged 60 from a heart attack.

The 1986 Hand of God star had Diego Jnr, 34, Dalma, 32, Gianinna, 30, Jana, 23 and seven-year-old Diego Fernando.

But as well as Magali there are also Santiago Lara, 19 and the 'Cuban Trio' of Joana, Lu and Javielito who all claimed he was their father.

Over recent years Maradona had recognised his grown-up son Diego Junior, born from an extra-marital affair with Italian model Cristina Sinagra, and 23-year-old Jana who met her dad for the first time nearly six years ago following a court fight by her mum Valeria Sabalain.

In October last year a 23-year-old brunette called Magali Gil (pictured) emerged as the latest possible member of Maradona's brood

Maradona had recognised two sons and three daughters by four different women, including his ex-wife Claudia Villafane (pictured together) and former long-term partner Veronica Ojeda

Several Spanish-language memes went viral after Maradona's lawyer revealed the three Cuban children.

One said: 'If you were born between 1980 and 2019 and you have extraordinary footballing skills, contact us. You could be a son of Diego Maradona.'

Another, showing hundreds of people queuing outside an unidentified building, has a message alongside it which says: 'The day of the declaration of Maradona's heirs.'

Diego Maradona's death could spark a family feud over his estate as he leaves behind five children he recognised as his and six others he has been linked to.

Before he died one of his daughters joked he could make up a starting eleven with his kids after a 23-year-old Argentinian was named as the latest woman fighting to prove she was his daughter.

It was not immediately clear who the former Barcelona and Naples star had included in his will.

In November last year Diego threatened to leave nothing to his children after being forced to deny he was dying.

In a video filmed from what appeared to be his home in Argentina Maradona, who has battled drink and drug addictions as well as weight problems, said: 'I want to tell you that I'm not dying at all, that I sleep peacefully because I'm working.'

Responding to new fears about his health his daughter Giannini had sparked by appearing to ask fans to 'pray for him' and claiming he was being sedated with pills like a 'caged lion', he added: 'I don't know what she meant to say or what she had interpreted.

'What I do know is that as you get older, people worry more about what you're going to leave than what you're doing.

'I tell you all that I'm not going to leave anything, that I am going to donate it. I'm not going to give away everything I earned by running during my life, I'm going to donate it.'
