The transgender debate in our country is a hot topic. Some Americans think that being transgender is a mental disorder. While other Americans believe that being transgender is more about correcting a biological “mistake.”
The medical community believes that transgender, medically known as “gender dysphoria,” is a mental disorder where someone thinks their gender is not the same as their biology. There are ways to treat the disorder, such as therapy, medication, and surgery.
Most Americans, including a vast majority of conservatives, hold the view that this is another example of something they don’t agree with. Still, in the confines of one’s personal life, they know they don’t get to have a say. This type of thought usually applies strictly to adults, as many Americans have a hard time with children being allowed to “transition” between genders.
A young child may not have developed the critical thinking skills required to make such a life-altering decision. And in cases like the one in Texas, where divorced parents disagree on the validity of a child’s desire to change genders, it gets even more complicated.
Breitbart reported that at the ABC town hall, a mother of a transgender child, Mieke Haeck, asks Joe Biden a series of questions attacking Trump’s stance on transgender Americans serving in the military. She asks Biden what he would do to help those in the transgender community to feel better about their protection under the law.
Haeck said that “the Trump administration had attacked the rights of transgender people” when he signed an executive order banning transgender Americans from serving in the United States military. She asked former Vice President Biden how he planned to “reverse this dangerous and discriminatory agenda.”
Former Vice President Joe Biden says that he will “flat-out just change the law.” Biden promised the mother that he was going to “eliminate those executive orders.”
Joe then went on a rambling tirade that included a story, where the validity of the remarks are hard to prove, about his father telling him that two men kissing near Wilmington, DE was simple, “they love each other.”
It is strange that Joe Biden would tell this woman that he grew up with a father that supported gay marriage when he, himself, didn’t support gay marriage until it seemed to serve him politically.
In a flashback video, Joe Biden is seen on ‘Meet the Press’ saying, “We’ve all voted. Look, marriage is between a man and a woman, and states must respect that.” This, of course, didn’t stop him from making viewers believe that he has always championed LGTBQ rights even though the video evidence clearly shows he has been far from their advocate.
Biden went on to say:
“The idea that an 8-year-old child, a 10-year-old child, decides, you know, “I want to be transgender, that’s what I think I’d like to be, it’d make my life a lot easier” — there should be zero discrimination.”
Discrimination is a “fluid” word in today’s world, where emotions rule over logic in almost every debate. Right now, multiple states are fighting for women’s equality in sports where transgender women (a man that transitions into a woman) is allowed to play different sports.
The mental and emotional fix of medically transitioning does very little to stop most transgender women (a man who transitions into a woman) from performing at a higher level than a woman could. The medical transition doesn’t stop basic biological makeup.
The issue is as broad as it is complex.
Most parents are concerned that allowing a child that young to choose for themselves whether or not to make this life-altering decision isn’t appropriate.
Many voters are reluctant to leave the decision on such matters in the hands of Joe Biden, especially when preaching the idea that children as young as eight can “choose” their gender.
Trying to follow Joe Biden’s thought process can be a similar experience to being in a group chat with multiple conversations going on at once, except the only one speaking is former Vice President Joe Biden.
