Man, 69, and his wife, 65, are bound by zip-ties with pillowcases shoved over their heads in hours-long Staten Island home invasion after two masked men rang their doorbell and forced their way inside

Armed robbers used zip ties and pillow cases to restrain a couple during a horrifying hours-long home invasion in a typically quiet Staten Island suburb over the weekend.
Police were called to the vicinity of Woodrow Road and Vernon Avenue at 11:30pm on Sunday to reports of an armed burglary, involving two victims, a 65-year-old woman and a 69-year-old man.
The horrific ordeal had reportedly begun several hours earlier when two men wearing masks rang the couple’s doorbell in the early evening before forcing their way inside the home.
The masked assailants held the victims at gun point, demanding money and jewelry and threatening to shoot them if they failed to comply.
Both of the victims were then bound with zip ties, before the assailants put pillow cases over their heads.

The couple then laid on the ground helpless as the two men ransacked their way through their two-story home.
Police say the robbers eventually made off with around $1,500 in cash, two iPhones, but no jewelry. The suspects had fled by the time police arrived.
Neither of the two victims were said to have been physically hurt in the frightening incident. Police described both of their conditions as good.
The suspects were both described as white males, who were around six-feet tall, wearing masks and all-black clothing.
It’s currently unclear how long the suspects were inside the home while the victims were bound. Police told DailyMail.com they were unable to confirm who dialed 911, and whether the couple were able to free themselves.
No arrests have yet been made and no possible suspects have been identified as the investigation continues.
Police say they’re currently trawling through surveillance camera footage in the area in the hope of unearthing any clues to aid their search for the two suspects.

The neighborhood of Woodrow, located on Staten Island’s South Shore, is said to have been shaken by Sunday evening’s ordeal.
One neighbor of the couple, who only wished to be identified as Debbie, told Staten Island Live: ‘Now everyone’s freaking out on the block.’
‘It’s scary,’ she continued, ‘It’s crazy, but it’s happening all over. I guess people are desperate. I tell my family, “Don’t answer the door unless you know the person.”’
Debbie told the outlet she first became aware of the home invasion after a member of her family received a text from a friend saying that the community notification app Citizen had listed an armed burglary in their area.
‘We looked outside and the cops were already here and then everybody came out,’ she said. ‘Then the cops interviewed everybody on the block.’
