Rapper Kanye West and Imax have revealed an exclusive film collaboration based on West's forthcoming album, "Jesus is King."
West announced the new album via wife Kim Kardashian's Twitter account in August.
What are the details?
The film, which will debut exclusively in Imax theaters on Oct. 25, follows West's Sunday Services, according to The Hollywood Reporter."
Imax revealed details of the project in a statement.
"Filmed in the summer of 2019, Jesus Is King brings Kanye West's famed Sunday Service to life in the Roden Crater, visionary artist James Turrell's never-before-seen installation in Arizona's Painted Desert," Imax said. "This one-of-a-kind experience features songs arranged by West in the gospel tradition along with music from his new album Jesus Is King — all presented in the immersive sound and stunning clarity of Imax."
Fox News reports that the film is a social and religious commentary on "the evils of the modern world," and suggests that young people dissociate themselves from social media and its inherent dangers.
West has been holding his "Sunday Service" performances since earlier in the year, which showcase gospel versions of the popular musician's songs. The services also feature Christian music, both contemporary and traditional.
What about the sermon?
Earlier this month, West delivered a fiery sermon in an Atlanta church, preaching "radical obedience" to Jesus Christ.
"You sent your son to die for us, and all you ask is for radical obedience to you," West told congregants inside a jam-packed church. "You're not asking us to do the least. You know how people are like, 'At least I ... ' how are we gonna do the least when he did the most?"
He continued, "I've seen him work miracles in my life. You know the devil presents so many flashy, shiny objects. I've seen everything that the devil could've showed you via TV, videos, car dealerships, jewelry, houses, and I'll tell you ... nothin' beats God ... and a sound mind."
West pointed out that the only thing people should be concerned with is "the opinion of God."
"I know we say this is the culture, or that is the culture," he added. "To be radically in service to Christ is the only culture that I want to know about.
"Thank you for saving me, replenishing me, for delivering me," West praised. "When I found out about you ... I got closer to my children. I got closer to my family, 'cause the devil had me chasing a gold statue, had me chasing cars, had me chasing numbers ... the power of God cannot be calculated by a number, a first week sale, by a bank account, by how many cars you drive, by how big your houses is, how many acres you got."
"It's God inside of us," he insisted. "It's God inside of family. It's God inside of friendship that we hold each other accountable. If you see somebody slipping, you tell them. They be coming at me like, 'Why are you so judgmental?' It ain't for me to judge, but I'm gonna tell them what I see."
In August, West hosted one of the famed services in Dayton, Ohio, as an effort to honor the lives lost in a mass killing that took place on a busy street outside of a club that same month. The massacre took the lives of nine people and injured dozens more.
