Woman who had multiple abortions from notorious Indiana doctor says he left her 'scarred and bleeding'

A woman who had multiple abortions from a notorious abortion doctor, who was discovered to have hoarded thousands of fetal remains in his home, has come forward to discuss her experiences at the hands of Dr. Ulrich Klopfer.

What are the details?

When Gary, Indiana, abortion doctor Ulrich Klopfer passed away on September 3, his family was shocked to discover that the doctor had kept the remains of thousands of aborted fetuses in his home. The fetuses were medically preserved and the reason for Klopfer's decision to keep the remains was not immediately clear.

Klopfer had been a source of controversy even prior to his death. He became a lightning rod for controversy after it was discovered several years ago that he had failed to report an abortion he had performed on a 13-year-old girl to the authorities. As a result of that controversy, Klopfer faced criminal charges in 2014 and ultimately lost his medical license in 2015.

At the time, Klopfer defended himself by saying, "We're all human beings, we all make mistakes, and we have to deal with the consequences, OK?"
Now, more of Klopfer's victims are coming forward to discuss the treatment they received at his hands.

One of them, who was identified only as "Assetou," told WBBM-TV that she received multiple abortions from Klopfer, and that he left her "scarred and bleeding" from one of them.

According to the WBBM report, Assetou was shocked when she learned that Klopfer had kept the remains of so many of his victims in his home. Assetou told WBBM, "I thought to myself, 'Oh my God, I did this awful thing and my children are possibly held in a box somewhere in a house.'"

Authorities say that most of the fetal remains in Klopfer's home are too old to have been any of Assetou's children, but Assetou says she does not take much comfort from that. She still wants people to know what it was like to have gotten an abortion from Klopfer, and the techniques he used.

She says that when she first went to Klopfer for an abortion 14 years ago, she was pregnant with twins and was still uneasy about her decision. She says that while she was sitting in the waiting room with other women, Klopfer came out and gave a speech to all the women who were assembled to receive abortions that day, presumably to encourage them to go through with the procedure.

According to Assetou, Klopfer said, "If you don't do this, it will cost you.... Yearly $240,000 to take care of a kid. So would you rather deal with that or would you rather go home and just go back to your regular life?"

She also says that when she decided to get another abortion eight years later, she went back to Klopfer, and this time, his procedure was "extremely rough," and that he left her "bleeding and scarred."

All of the clinics Klopfer used to operate are now closed. The Indiana Attorney General's office is investigating the fetal remains found at Klopfer's home.

In spite of her experiences, Assetou remains pro-choice. She told WBBM, "Every circumstance is different. I don't know what brought them to that level but what I will say is if you choose to do that just know it will live with you forever."
