Liberals Ticked at How Sarah’s Going-Away Party Is Being Handled

When it was recently announced that White House press secretary Sarah Sanders would be resigning her post at month’s end, countless denizens of the liberal media wasted no time in expressing their spiteful glee at the impending departure of President Donald Trump’s chief spokesperson.
It would appear, however, there are those in the liberal media who were willing to set aside any disagreements they had with Sanders and wish her well. But the gesture they chose to express those well-wishes for Sanders has only prompted more consternation and outrage from their liberal peers.
HuffPost reported Thursday that two members of the White House press corps — Francesca Chambers of the U.K. Daily Mail and Anita Kumar of Politico — have invited fellow White House correspondents and a few Trump staffers to a get-together Wednesday at a Washington, D.C.-area restaurant for “farewell drinks” in Sanders’ honor.
The liberal media outlet noted how contentious the relationship between Sanders and the White House press corps had been over the past couple of years and reiterated the assertion from the left that Sanders routinely lied to the media and American people on behalf of Trump.
That strained relationship was the primary issue at hand with regard to the reporter-arranged party for Sanders, especially given the fact that the two reporters are prominent members of the White House Correspondents’ Association, with Kumar being a member of the WHCA board and Chambers serving as the WHCA treasurer.

It is worth noting that the president of the WHCA, Olivier Knox, told HuffPost that his organization had “nothing to do” in any official capacity with arranging the event.
Kumar informed HuffPost that the event for Sanders would be a “casual gathering for reporters who have engaged with Sarah, many of whom have done so for years.”
She added that events such as this are “quite common, regardless of administration — as many Huff Post reporters know and have frequented.”
But HuffPost played semantics with regard to that assertion from Kumar and claimed to have never “organized” such an event — which is telling, considering that Kumar never said they had “organized” such an event but have participated in the past.
Kumar said, “The challenges between the administration and the White House press corps are well documented and, in some cases, ongoing.” She added, “I generally believe that part of the remedy to those challenges is to engage in conversation rather than to avoid it.”
Unfortunately, it would seem that a number of Kumar’s fellow liberal journalists and leftists are in no mood to “remedy” the situation, at least with regard to Sanders, as was revealed in their caustic reaction to the news on social media, according to TheBlaze.
In a Twitter thread virtually seething with resentment, Parker Molloy, editor-at-large for Media Matters for America, took great exception to the involvement of WHCA members in the party for Sanders and demanded the organization “address” the apparently “unethical” issue.
Former Obama adviser Dan Pfeiffer tweeted that the planned party “damn embarrassing,” while a former Democratic congressional candidate in Florida, Dena Grayson, accused Sanders via tweet of being a liar and said of Sanders’ departure, “Good riddance, Sarah.”
Others, such as political scientist and writer Miranda Yaver, harped on Sanders’ alleged propensity for lying and tweeted that the media “shouldn’t reward her with a goodbye party.”
Arguably one of the most spiteful reactions came from a feminist writer named Jodi Jacobson, however, who demanded to know the identities of any and all who would attend the event for Sanders. Jacobson tweeted, “Who are the reporters or which are the outlets giving a goodbye party for @PressSec? I feel we deserve to know for the sake of integrity and transparency.”
In reality, this is nothing more than a handful of reporters and administration staffers having a civil get-together for dinner and drinks — as normal people do — to mark the end of a working relationship. But it seems that some on the left are so consumed with rage and disgust for President Trump and those who associate with him that the left can’t even be civil for one evening.
