Brianna Wu is the most leftist kind of lefties. A computer programmer turned congressional wannabe, Wu’s platform is laundry list of the uber-left’s talking points. They include universal health care, free college and the Green New Deal.
But over the weekend, Wu ventured into some different territory for which she appeared totally unprepared.
Wu, who failed to even win the Democratic primary in Massachusetts’ 8th Congressional District in 2018, decided to take on Christians.
First, she impugned Matt Walsh, a writer for The Daily Wire, by claiming he was a fake Christian and that Walsh was “only in it for his own narcissism and anger.”
Someone has to finally say this. @MattWalshBlog is a Christian the way Trump is a president.
He’s only in it for his own narcissism and anger. He is an embarrassment, uninterested in any norms of civility and decency. And frankly, he does damage to the institution.

When Walsh brushed her criticism aside, Wu asserted that the “thrust of the Bible is about social justice.”
Pssst! Reasonable people of faith can agree or disagree on abortion. Pass it along.

At this point, TheBlaze’s Allie Beth Stuckey jumped in.

Wu flexed her Christian knowledge by taking the opportunity to insult Stuckey’s background.
“Maybe you didn’t have a very good Christian education,” Wu wrote.
Wu then decided that she should summarize the Bible for the ostensible purpose of correcting those of us who dare think it’s about God saving sinners.
Right, and the overwhelming message of Christ is about social justice.
Have you ever read Acts? It’s practically a socialist track. It’s full of God’s commands for the rich to give their wealth to the poor and to take care of the sick.

It seems like a strange tactic to assert the Bible as authority for unbiblical propositions, but Wu does Wu.
At this point, all-American rock star and my favorite legislator, Rep. Dan Crenshaw, stepped to the plate. He mixed Bible knowledge, political knowledge and some good ol’ Texas common sense to deliver the best tweet of the weekend.
This comment confuses Christ’s teachings on personal charity with socialist collectivism.
A good Christian shows generosity by giving to charities directly, volunteering, and tithing.
A “democratic socialist” signals their morality by demanding others share their wealth.

Crenshaw’s now-viral tweet pointed out that Wu “confused Christ’s teachings on personal charity with socialist collectivism.”
This is an important point that leftist just can’t wrap their minds around. There is a big difference between championing the helping of the poor — which the Bible does do often and clearly — and the government requiring charity by force.
In the latter case, it ceases to be a virtue and becomes an immoral taking.

A leftist like Wu will doesn’t understand that God calls us to good works but does not force them on us. There are plenty of virtuous things that we should do that the government has no business requiring of us.
The Bible does not teach socialism anymore than it teaches that any charity should be mandated by law. The apostle Paul identified love, joy, peace, self-control and kindness as fruits of the spirit, not fruits of a socialistic government mandating character modification.
Conservatives should applaud virtue. We should give sacrificially to the poor and less fortunate.
But doing so under threat of governmental force as suggested by Wu makes such actions neither a virtue nor a sacrifice.
