Homeowners in Little Rock, Ark. hung a mannequin and Confederate flag in their yard, and now neighbors are upset, calling the situation offensive and disturbing.
"I saw a video of a noose, of a person of color, hanging from it. It's kind of disturbing,” the neighbor told FOX16. "It's heartbreaking to know neighbors in the neighborhood are like that.”
The woman in the home pushed back, claiming that the display was not intended to be racially charged. She expressed disappointment that neighbors chose to publicize the issue and not directly tell her they feel offended, reported FOX16.
"Well, hell, I'll take it down. This is a Halloween decoration — a Creeper. You know, the movie Jeepers Creepers,” the woman told FOX16. “They could have knocked on the door and asked instead of calling the news out.”
People began driving by the house after videos and posts of the display gained traction on Facebook. Little Rock resident Ricky Allen watched the video and pointed out that the mannequin looked like a person of color.
Another neighbor, Tracy Sims, who lives a few blocks away from the home also found it disheartening. "It is a free country, but it's very offensive,” she told FOX16.
After reactions from neighbors, the mannequin was taken down. The Confederate flag, however, reportedly remains up.
Yahoo Lifestyle reached out to Little Rock neighborhood residents Ricky Allen and Tracy Sims for comment and will update this post when we hear back.

ReplyDeleteI certainly do not see it that way. I see a proud people who fought the Northern Money Grubbers. 93% of Confederate young men fought for that flag and what it represented. In the North 67% of the young men fought.
Slavery yeah lets talk slavery. Who do you think ran the International Slave Trade? Well for one the Kerry Family of Massachusetts supplied most of the ships used to ship the slaves. The US Slave Trade was run by the Northern Industrialists who helped start the war. Yeah the plantation owners bought slaves as did many hundreds of millions indirectly worldwide. Slavery was the provision of cheap labor. I notice the Repubrocrats of today look to the illegal aliens for the same cheap labor.
The Civil War had very little to do with slavery. The Civil War was about, as are most wars, Politics, power and money. The North was raking in MONEY dishonestly but LEGALLY from the South and the South had had it.
Of course Lincoln knew all this. That is why he did not bring up the subject of slavery and the war until well AFTER the war started and he needed a POLITICAL edge.
