In Just 2 Sentences, Brit Hume Showed Hate-Mongering Elizabeth Warren for What She Really Is

Elizabeth Warren is in trouble. No, she hasn’t insulted Native American tribes again — for now, at least. Instead, the problem is that she just isn’t connecting with voters, and the 2020 primaries are coming up fast.
The Massachusetts Democrat senator has already been hitting the campaign trail hard, but seems to be making all the impact of a bland potato. The latest polls show former Vice President Joe Biden with a commanding lead in the running for the Democrat presidential nomination, stealing much of the spotlight from Warren.
Warren has been bumped to a very distant third, but is close to being knocked to fourth place as liberals vie for position in a crowded race.
She needs to appeal to as many voters as possible, but the gaffe-prone senator has chosen a strange strategy: Alienate millions of Americans by lashing out against Fox News.
On Tuesday, Warren posted a lengthy series of tweets in which she declared that Fox was a racist, “hate-for-profit racket.”

The candidate announced that she would have nothing to do with a proposed town hall debate hosted by the popular cable news outlet … and her rant didn’t go unnoticed by journalist Brit Hume.
Hume, a veteran commentator on Fox News who often serves as the calm voice of reason, responded to Warren’s tirade with a tweet of his own.
“This is just perfect. Read the whole thread,” Hume wrote. “Opinions with which she does not agree are not just that.”

The journalist pointed out that Warren was purposely pushing a narrative that if somebody disagreed with her far-left views, it must be because they are bigots.
“Opinions with which she does not agree are not just that,” he wrote. “No indeed, they are hateful and racist, all part of a plot to divide the country and undermine the middle class.”
Reading Warren’s tweets, it looks like Hume is right on the money.
If you didn’t know who the senator was bashing, you’d think she was talking about some sort of hood-wearing KKK member, not the number one most-watched cable network in America.
“Fox News is a hate-for-profit racket that gives a megaphone to racists and conspiracists—it’s designed to turn us against each other, risking life and death consequences, to provide cover for the corruption that’s rotting our government,” Warren wrote. Gee, tell us how you really think.
Fox News is a hate-for-profit racket that gives a megaphone to racists and conspiracists—it’s designed to turn us against each other, risking life and death consequences, to provide cover for the corruption that’s rotting our government and hollowing out our middle class.
Hate-for-profit works only if there’s profit, so Fox News balances a mix of bigotry, racism, and outright lies with enough legit journalism to make the claim to advertisers that it’s a reputable news outlet. It’s all about dragging in ad money—big ad money.

“Hate-for-profit works only if there’s profit, so Fox News balances a mix of bigotry, racism, and outright lies with enough legit journalism to make the claim to advertisers that it’s a reputable news outlet,” she continued.
One of her tweets would be hilarious if it wasn’t so hypocritical: “I’m running a campaign to reach all Americans,” she insisted.
All Americans — except for the millions of viewers who regularly tune in to Fox News. If you’re one of those people, then you’re a racist conspiracist bigot. Doesn’t it just warm your heart and make you want to vote for her?
The truly bizarre part to her screed is that Fox News isn’t even particularly far-right at all.
Sure, it caters to a conservative audience, but many Fox voices are downright moderate compared to the constant liberal rants on MSNBC, CNN and elsewhere.
Even more strangely, another Democrat candidate apparently had no problem accepting a Fox News invitation to talk about the issues.
Vermont Independent Sen. Bernie Sanders appeared on a Fox-hosted town hall event in April and didn’t burst into flames.
It’s worth noting that Sanders is both more liberal than Warren and doing far better in the polls, yet didn’t feel the need to call an entire network racist.
For his part, Fox’s own Brit Hume hit the nail on the head when he observed that Warren and so many on the left are refusing to even acknowledge that good people might have different political opinions. It’s about dehumanizing people and labeling them as “others.”
Instead of recognizing that there are various left, right and moderate views in America, Warren has labeled any network and any voter who isn’t far-left as a hateful bigot. There is no middle ground to her.
It’s clear that the senator is desperate for attention, but this just might be her “basket of deplorables” moment.
When Hillary Clinton uttered that phrase, she made it clear that there would be no olive branch to conservative or even moderate voters.
She decided to instead give half the country the proverbial middle finger — and we all know how well that strategy worked.
