Russia's terrifying drone armed with a shotgun: Footage shows new flying weapon shooting down balloon and model aircraft in awesome display

Drones have already been causing enough trouble in our skies after grounding planes at Gatwick Airport over Christmas, dropping contraband into prisons and colliding with aircraft.
But now we have another reason to fear the unmanned flyers as a Russian defence contractor has received a patent for a shotgun-wielding drone.
Video shows the aircraft shooting down a balloon and a remote-controlled plane from the sky.

It takes off and lands on a tail-sitting position and its 12 gauge shotgun barrel soon displays its awesome firepower.
The drone is patented by Almaz Antey according to Foxtrot Alpha, a modern defence news site.
The state-owned arms company has previously built some of the country's most powerful missiles.
Its strength can be seen as the small drone successfully guns down two airborne targets in a red balloon and a small aircraft.
It is believed work started on the drone in 2016 and was carried out by students on behalf of Almaz Antey at the Moscow Aviation Institute.
The video is a demonstration and was captioned as an 'experimental prototype' when it was first uploaded.
It is unclear what its purpose is but it could certainly come in handy if another drone starts to cause terror above our airports again.
