Bacon vending machine — yes, BACON! — lets students at major college pig out while on the go

Christmas has arrived a little early at Ohio State University, courtesy of a vending machine that may soon put all others to shame.
It's a bacon vending machine.

That's right. The machine in the Animal Science Building at the College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences dispenses ready-to-eat bacon for a buck a pop, WBNS-TV in Columbus reported.
But you'd better get your butt over there in a hurry — the vending machine will let you go hog wild only until next Thursday, the station said.
"The Bacon Vending Machine is a unique and fun way for the Ohio Pork Council to support Ohio State students and promote the pork industry at the same time," the council's President-elect Dave Shoup told WBNS.

What kind of bacon is in the vending machine?

Hormel, Sugardale, and Smithfield donated bacon strips and bacon bits for the machine — and they're "shelf-stable," the station said, meaning they can stay on store shelves for long periods of time without spoiling.
Proceeds from the machine will benefit the meat science program, WBNS said, adding that program members are responsible for stocking and maintaining the machine during its time on campus.
Kinda offers a whole new way to "bring home the bacon." Sorry, PETA.
Here's a clip from the Columbus Dispatch showing the vending machine in action:
