An American expat has listed several major differences she's noticed after living in Australia for the past six months - including calling ambulances for minor injuries and not being charged a fortune.

The young blonde woman shared a series of TikTok videos outlining what she's learnt since moving Down Under.

In one clip, the woman said had no idea Aussies usually don't celebrate Halloween, call 'flip flops' 'thongs' and go to 'uni' instead of college.

She also claimed 'no-one knows' who the Prime Minister is and that Australians are 'nicer' compared to Americans.

Other variances included 'not knowing what a PB & J sandwich is' and serving sushi as one big roll rather than sliced pieces.

She also claims you will be 'made fun of' for being afraid of snakes and spiders, which are known to be two common deadly animals found in Australia.

The differences follow from Australians being known for using 'slang' words and nicknames.

'People walk barefoot a lot, especially when grocery shopping,' she wrote.

It was also noted how 'fries' are called hot 'chips' and Aussie students don't use yellow school buses to get to and from school.

Next, she pointed out that students call 'every teacher Mrs or Sir' rather than their name.

One of the videos has since been viewed more than half a million times and many praised the observations, while some disagreed.

'You forgot to add "swim between the red and yellow flags [at the beach]",' one person wrote.

'Ah I celebrate Halloween and last time I checked I live in Australia,' another added.
