Trump pulls no punches as he excoriates Biden's 'disaster' response to the Covid pandemic including vaccine mandates and the southern border crisis - and insists he 'could solve inflation very quickly'

Former President Donald Trump slammed the Biden administration over vaccine mandates, inflation, the southern border crisis and more on Friday in a wide-ranging interview, but still plugged the COVID-19 vaccine that he was 'very proud' to get.

Trump told FOX Business' Stuart Varney that he 'wanted' Biden 'to be successful,' but claims his handling of COVID-19 and implementing vaccine mandates was a 'disaster.'

'Look, I wanted [Biden] to be successful on the whole thing on COVID – or as I call it, the China virus,' Trump told Varney on 'Varney & Co.' on Friday.

'I wanted him to be successful. He's been totally unsuccessful. It's a disaster what's happened.

'I think he's done a terrible job on the coronavirus.'

Trump admitted he 'didn't want to talk to China too much' after COVID-19.

He also called out inflation and said 'the Americans have it totally right' to believe the price hike has to do with Biden's policies.

'The Americans have it totally right. And frankly, the pandemic - if you think about it - probably brings it down because you can't really get your economy running to the extent, and therefore, you're using less.

'I would think the pandemic would certainly might bring inflation down as opposed to elevating it. I saw him make that statement, and it's just another incorrect statement.'

Sixty-seven percent of voters claim Biden's policies are causing inflation, FOX Business reported.

He also called out Biden for the supply chain crisis, saying that 'word' was never heard of in his presidency.

'We never even heard the word supply chains when I was president. That was not even something that I ever remember even listening to in a hearing.'

Trump - who famously wanted to build a wall around the southern border of the US - also attacked the Biden administration for the crisis, calling it a 'disgrace.'

''This is not what people bargained for. They lied through the whole thing. He lied. This is never been anything like this, this is not a representative government,' he said.

Vaccine Mandates

Despite vaccine hesitancy among the Republican party, Trump continued to plug the vaccine his administration developed in record time and distributed to the public several times throughout his appearance on the show.

The former president claimed he 'wanted people to go out an get it' but doesn't want to 'force it into them.'

'I don't like [vaccine mandates], but look, I took them, I took the vaccine, I was proud to do it,' he said. 'Somebody said: "Oh, sir, maybe it's a little controversial, don't mention it." It's just the opposite. I'm very proud.'

Trump made sure to mention that his administration only took 'nine months' to develop the vaccine that wasn't supposed to be 'doable in five years.'

'[Dr. Anthony] Fauci said it would take more than five years and who knows if it's going to work and it really works well. And even the people that get it, they don't end up going to the hospital and they don't die.'

The former president claimed he saved 'tens of millions of people all over the world' with the vaccines.

Trump also alluded to Biden promising not to initiate vaccine mandates on the campaign trial.

Trump also spoke about his disdain toward vaccine passes, such as New York City's, which requires citizens to show proof of vaccination to do certain activities, as 'crazy' and said those who have recovered from the virus are 'abused.'

He suggested giving 'cards out' to those who have had the virus to be able to go out and do activities because patients are 'not going to have it or for the most part it's going to be, again, very mild.'

Inflation

Trump slammed Biden for high energy costs - such as gas being as high as $7.77 in certain parts of California - for the high inflation

Trump said Biden's mandates caused the supply chain crisis and that 'what's happening' is people 'quitting their jobs.'

He also blamed vaccine mandates for police shortages and remarked that it was worse in 'democrat areas.'

'What they've done is a lot of the mandates [that] are causing the supply chain problem. In that way, I guess you can say that what's happening is people are quitting their jobs all over the place,' he said.

'You look at the police in New York, you look at the police all over where they refuse to get - in democrat areas, by the way, I have to say that - that's where the crime is and that's where the police departments are being decimated by the mandate.

'It's a terrible thing they're doing, I have to say.'

The former president also brought up energy prices and how the US is no longer 'energy independent,' like it was when he left office, he claimed. He also said the US is now 'begging for oil.'

Trump claimed the 'word' supply chain never existed during his presidency and he was never briefed on it, yet it's a massive factor in Biden's presidency

Trump claimed the 'word' supply chain never existed during his presidency and he was never briefed on it, yet it's a massive factor in Biden's presidency

'We were energy independent - in fact, I got the prices so low for gasoline, I was down to a $1.78 and I left at about a $1.86 a gallon. And I was actually worried about the industry, I had to get it up a little,' he said.

'We were bigger than Saudi Arabia or Russia and we were energy independent and within a year, I would have been bigger than Saudi Arabia and Russia combined.'

He also remarked that energy has a lot to due with inflation and the reason gas prices are so high is because Biden is 'panicked.'

'It's because he's panicked. What's happening with energy nobody's ever seen it. In California, it's $7.77 in certain areas of California and it tends to follow those numbers.'

'I could solve inflation very quickly.'

Border Crisis

Trump vehemently disagreed with Biden's proposed plan of paying illegal immigrants who had been separated during the Trump administration, while Americans still 'live on the streets of San Francisco and New York'

Many immigrants were headed in droves to the US searching for a new life as many headed toward Texas

Trump biggest grudge with the border crisis was the fact that Americans were being left out.

Trump said he has a problem with illegal immigrants being offered money, while American citizens continued to live on the streets.

'What about our vets that are living on the streets and what about our people that have to live on the streets of San Francisco and New York and all over the place, they get nothing.

'They get $450,000 to come illegally into our country.'

Biden had proposed a plan to pay illegal immigrants who were separated during the Trump administration $450,000 per person.

Biden later denied he was going to pay hundreds of thousands of dollars to immigrants. It is unknown if immigrants will receive any money.
