President Biden’s approval rating isn’t just bad, it’s worse than any governor in the United States.
Morning Consult is out with a new poll of state-level approval ratings, which finds that nine out of the top 10 governors are Republicans. But even the least popular governor, Oregon Democrat Kate Brown, is at 43 percent. That’s still better than Biden, who is has an approval rating of 41.2 percent, according to an average of polls compiled by RealClearPolitics. In some recent polls, he’s been down in the 30s.
One reason why I find this interesting is that it suggests that Biden’s unpopularity isn’t merely tied to the fact that things are going poorly in the country. If that were the case, you’d expect a broader anti-incumbent trend, with more governors polling at Biden’s level or worse.
But this suggests that a lot of discontent with Biden is tied to Biden himself.
