White House press secretary Jen Psaki insisted that the president is 'doing great' after a reporter questioned her on his coughing and wiping his nose during speeches on Friday.

'He's doing great. He's got some allergies,' Psaki assured.

Biden cleared his throat a few times during a speech on the September jobs report on Friday and at one point pulled out a tissue to wipe his nose.

The president also coughed multiple times when delivering remarks after restoring protections for Bears Ears, Grand Staircase-Escalante, and Northeast Canyons and Seamounts National Monuments on Friday.

A stubborn cough is nothing new for Biden, 78, and weeks ago the press secretary dismissed concerns about the president's health when his repeated hacking raised eyebrows.

'I don't think it's an issue of concern,' Psaki said. 'There's a range of reasons why we need to clear our throat or have a light cold.'

During the presidential campaign, Biden's doctor Kevin O'Connor told the Wall Street Journal that he suffers from high cholesterol, acid reflux disease, and seasonal allergies and that the acid reflux causes him to clear his throat often.

The president has not yet released a medical report since the last update in December 2019, though the White House promised in May that one would come later this year.

Psaki said back in May: 'Certainly when he has his next medical appointment, we will be transparent about that and provide that information to all of you.'

'This may also contribute to occasional cough and sinus congestion,' O'Connor wrote in a medical statement. 'He has received endoscopy to rule out any more significant disease.'
