Kidney stone surgery, overnight stay as an outpatient (not sure if it saved me money (or cost me more), but might have also been why I was put in one big room of a dozen beds, separated by the not-at-all-magic curtains that don't block any sound, and being treated like something on a medical assembly line), with what is considered here to be "good insurance". This was just for the hospital part of the day: I paid an additional $1,000 out of pocket for the surgeon and other staff.
