A viral TikTok video captured the moment dozens of shoppers joined together in an impromptu performance of the Star Spangled Banner at a Walmart in Texas

The video was recorded at a store in Haslet on Saturday and was posted to TikTok by a user with the handle @raised..right.

Men, women and children are seen holding their hands over their hearts as the belt out the lyrics - eliciting cheers from across the store.

The caption explained that one shopper had started singing the anthem alone and a few others joined in before the whole store was singing along.

'Very patriotic scene in Haslet, Tx Walmart 7/3/21 someone started singing the National Anthem and people joined in,' text overlaying the video reads with the caption: 'God bless Texas and God bless the USA!'

So far, the video has been viewed over 1.1 million times and amassed about 181.4K likes, 17.6K shares and 17.6K comments.

The TiKTok credits the video as originally coming from Facebook user Cody Bill Schrage, whose post with the video has 95K shares, 46K varying reacts and 19K comments.

Facebook user Adrian Figueroa commented: 'This is the most Texas thing I’ve seen and I love it.'

Other social media users from across the globe were split on their reaction to the scene, with some proclaiming it a sincere display of patriotism and others rejecting it as bizarre and cult-like.

Twitter user Peggy Adamson wrote, 'I love this!! So thankful to see other people thankful and proud of our country!! GOD BLESS AMERICA!!'

And Twitter user Sam wrote, 'As a Canadian I have only ever seen this happen once up here. In 2010, during the Olympics in the food court at Waterfront Centre. Wish we were more patriotic on a regular basis. Happy 4th!'

Alternatively, Twitter user GOOD WRITER, whose bio lists her as being from Cymru, Wales, wrote, 'Who tf starts singing the national anthem in WALMART?? If I started cracking out Hen Wlad fy Nhadau in the middle of my weekly shop at Lidl I'd probably get smacked.' Her tweet referred to the Welsh national anthem.

It is unclear if Schrage was the first to make the scene go viral because footage from different angles has since been shared in several other viral posts on Facebook, Twitter and YouTube.

In one video shared to Facebook by a user named J.ournal, a lone woman standing under a large American flag banner could be seen singing the first verse before a few other voices join her.
