What were you looking at, Bill? NYC Mayor sparks hilarity when he tweets then deletes photo of himself when eagle-eyed followers notice the reflection in his sunglasses

New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio's summertime photo op became a photo oops when the reflection in his sunglasses showed a woman's chest.

The original post was deleted and replaced, but social media trolls were quick to jump on the Twitter gaffe.

Twitter user @z00mz00mer replied with a TikTok video zooming in and out of the reflection in de Blasio's shades with the song 'A Pimp Named Slickback' playing in the background.

He tweeted, 'bill, why did you delete the first one? it was so pimp!'

This photo, which has since been deleted, was posted on Bill de Blasio's @NYCMayor Twitter account and shows a reflection of a woman's chest in his sunglasses

De Blasio's original photo was posted to his @NYCMayor Twitter account on Saturday with the caption 'The future of New York City is so bright I gotta wear shades! #SummerOfNYC' was deleted and replaced with a similar photo.

It was also posted on Flickr and then removed.

The photo was part of a summer day where the outgoing mayor spoke to residents at the pool and played games with the kids.

He's is in his final six months as mayor because of term limits, and judging by the replies, many are happy to see him go.

Eric Adams is currently leading in the Democratic primary in New York City, although it will be weeks before it there's a clear-cut winner.

While the twitterverse laughed and approved of @z00mz00mer's tweet in dozens of replies, de Blasio's tweets - even his second attempt - were mocked.

Most of the Twitter responses juxtaposed the mayor's 'bright future' comment with the grim reality of surging crime rates in NYC.

Shootings across the city are up by more than 70 percent. Felony assaults are up eight percent for the first six months of 2021, compared to the same period last year, rapes are up by 10 percent and robberies - which includes muggings - have spiked by nearly 40 percent this month.

Twitter user @patrick410grand said, 'Sir if lawlessness and elevated crime levels are bright ....you are correct you might even wear your shades at night your embarrassing yourself'

@Dangainr simply tweeted, 'You're an utter moron.'

There's also conflict brewing between residents in Greenwich Village and partygoers in Washington Square Park since pandemonium broke a few weeks ago.

A wild, all-night rave ended with multiple people beaten and stabbed, and a diner cook being thrown through a window.

The next week a woman was trampled and left bloodied when a man allegedly waved a taser around.

And this weekend, Fight Club-type matches were being held.

Another major issue is in residential and high-tourist area of Midtown Manhattan around around Times Square and Hell's Kitchen, where thousands of homeless people were moved to hotels during the pandemic.

Eight Avenue between Penn Station and The Port Authority Bus Terminal has become a drug corridor and a crime hot spot.

The homeless who were living in the hotels are now being brought to shelters.
