A white New York couple accused of beating a black hotel clerk in a racially motivated attack danced and blew kisses at Black Lives Matter protestors on their way into court.

While protestors chanted, 'Hey hey, ho ho, these racist folks have got to go,' Philip Sarner danced and gestured toward his crotch while Emily Orbay blew kisses.

They were caught on surveillance video allegedly beating Crystal Caldwell, a hotel clerk at the Quality Inn in Mystic, Connecticut, on June 26, 2020.

In the video, Sarner appears to punch Caldwell, shove her to the ground and kick her head. Orbay appears to hit Caldwell's head.

'He has no remorse. The only thing he is sorry about is that he was caught,' Caldwell's lawyer M.  John Strafci told ABC after the couple's crude entrance into New London Superior Court in Connecticut on Wednesday.

Strafaci told ABC that Caldwell sustained head injuries, an eye injury and a concussion. He said she also suffers from post traumatic stress disorder and continues to have nightmares about the assault.

'It's gonna be a long, long time that I don't stop dreaming about his stepping and kicking, stepping on my head. It's going to be a long time,' Caldwell told WTNH outside the courthouse.

The Long Island couple were in court con charges of intimidation due to bias and assault in the attack that Caldwell claims was racially motivated.

Sarner also faces a further charge of harassment for allegedly making harassing phone calls to Strafaci.

The couple was staying in the Quality Inn in Mystic, Connecticut, at the time of alleged assault, which started because their hot water wasn't working.

Caldwell recounted her attack in an interview with The Day at the time, telling the news outlet that Sarner quickly angered after she told him the repairman woulkd check out the problem or she could move them to another room.

Sarner's allegedly said he and and his girlfriend were going to 'kick her a**,' Caldwell told The Day.

Caldwell hung up, but minutes later, Sarner showed up at her desk threatening Caldwell.

The hotel's general manager and executive housekeeper tried to diffuse the situation but Sarner allegedly continued his threats.

Caldwell responded, which angered Sarner and he allegedly ran at her and tried to hit her, Caldwell told The Day.

She fought back but was punched in the head repeatedly and sustained a concussion, swollen face and badly injured right eye. He called her an 'old monkey,' Caldwell said.

Police arrived and told Caldwell to wait in the employee lounge while they reviewed the surveillance tape.

She said she went into the hallway to get ice for her face when Sarner's girlfriend shouted at her, and the couple ganged up on her for round two.

They were seen on tape pushing her against the wall and then down onto the ground, kicking her in the back and injuring her ribs.

'It's one of the most vicious assaults that I've seen,' Caldwell's lawyer told ABC after the court hearing. 'Just a situation where you have a lady who's working at a hotel [who] hasn't done anything to deserve it.'

Philip Sarner
Emily Orbay

Sarner and Orbay are accused of beating Caldwell in an alleged racially motivated assault last June in a Connecticut hotel

The state's attorney's office offered a plea deal to Sarner and Orbay on Wednesday.

If they plead guilty to all charges, Sarner would be sentenced to nine years in prison, suspended after five years served, and three years probation, ABC reported.

Orbay would be sentenced to six years in prison, suspended after two years, followed by three years probation, Strafaci told ABC.

The couple is due back in court in July to either accept or reject the plea deals.

Sarner and Orbay's attorney Kevin Smith did not reply to DailyMail.com request for comment.

Smith said last August, 'We obviously would dispute the nature of the assault,' when arguing for reduced bond for the couple, according to The Day.
