A Michigan man accidentally bought two lottery tickets with the same numbers - and wound up winning two $1million jackpots as a result of his mistake.

Samir Mazahem, 56, of Dearborn Heights, Michigan, said he only intended to buy one $2 Mega Millions lottery ticket through the Michigan Lottery app on June 9, using a series of family birthdays for the numbers.

But, 'I forgot to save the numbers as favorites in the app, so I went back in and set them up as favorites so I could easily play them in the future,' Mazahem said, according to MLive.

'What I didn’t realize, is that meant I would be buying a second ticket with the same numbers.'

Mazahem said that he was 'a little bummed' after seeing that he'd bought two of the same tickets for the drawing, but 'didn’t think much about it' after the fact.

It wasn't until recently, he said that he actually logged back into his lottery account and realized that he'd won two $1million prizes off those same tickets.

'Saying that I was stunned is an understatement,' Mazahem said, adding that he 'couldn’t believe it was real. It took several days for the reality to set in that my mistake had paid off to the tune of $2million!'

After claiming his prize at the Michigan Lottery headquarters in Lansing, Michigan, Mazahem said that he intends to buy a new house with his winnings and save the leftover cash.

'Winning is exciting and gives me some comfort knowing that when I retire, I will have money in the bank,' he said.
