New York Governor Andrew Cuomo Humiliates Himself, Tries to Blame Trump For Nursing Home Deaths in His State (5 Cartoons)

During a press conference today New York Governor Andrew Cuomo made the absurd, and insulting claim that the covid crisis in New York City was caused by President Donald Trump.
“Donald Trump caused the COVID outbreak in New York. Donald Trump caused the COVID outbreak in New York. That is a fact.”
“It’s a fact that he admitted, and the CDC admitted, and Fauci admitted. The China virus, the China virus, the China Virus. It was not the China virus. It was the European virus that came to New York.”
“They missed it. They missed it. The China virus went to Europe. It got on a plane,” Cuomo added. “It went to Europe. They never even thought of the possibility, and then 3 million Europeans got on the plane and came to New York, and they brought the virus. January, they brought the virus.”
“February, they brought the virus. March, they brought the virus. And in mid-march the federal government [imposed] a travel ban from Europe, mid-March.”

Cuomo then doubled down on his blame-shifting “Too little, too late, Mr. President. He caused the COVID outbreak in New York. Donald Trump and his incompetent CDC, and his incompetent NIH, and his incompetent Department of Homeland Security.”
It would seem Governor Andrew Cuomo is doing some battle space preparation for the blame that is about to hit him hard for decisions he made that killed so many elderly people in nursing homes in New York state.
More on Cuomo’s culpability in the deaths of so many elderly in New York state, via Business Insider:
Gov. Andrew Cuomo of New York has repeatedly insisted that calls for an independent investigation into his administration’s coronavirus response are politically motivated and part of an “ugly politics” drummed up by his conservative media critics.
That’s not remotely true, as Cuomo’s critics include members of his own party and plenty of nonconservative media outlets.
But even if it were true that his political opponents had been the ones primarily raising the issue, who cares?
Cuomo’s critics aren’t making up the fact that by the state’s own count, more than 6,600 patients have died in nursing homes as a result of COVID-19. They’re also not making up the fact that Cuomo ordered nursing homes to accept patients who had tested positive for the virus at the start of the pandemic.
Removed from any partisan lens, those are concurrent facts worth investigating. Governors don’t get a pass on accountability just because their critics are the people who asked for it.
Cuomo says his administration’s investigation into itself is all the information the public needs
Cuomo has an interest in having as little reflection as possible on his fateful decision to force nursing homes to take COVID-19 patients. If an investigation were to determine that his actions led to an unnecessarily calamitous spike in deaths, it wouldn’t be great for his “hero” narrative.
Governor Andrew Cuomo is clearly trying to deflect blame for his horrible decisions onto President Donald Trump, but it won’t work.
People are nowhere as dumb as Democrats seem to think they are.
