No one has more loyal apologists than Donald Trump.
But as good as they are, they’ve already been pushed to the breaking point trying to manufacture excuses for the administration’s bungled response to the COVID-19 outbreak, which has sickened more than 2 million Americans and killed nearly 130,000.
Now they’ve got a whole new catastrophe to deal with.
Supposedly this is something the administration has known about for months but has done nothing.
Nyet – as comrade Vladimir Putin might say.
It was bad enough when Trump said he believed the Russian strongman over ALL of the American intelligence agencies when it came to Russian interference in our elections.
But bounties on American troops?

What does Sen. McSally think?

And we do nothing?
The Russians deny this, of course. And who knows, perhaps the president will again believe Vladimir over his own intelligence .agencies
But would you?
Take Trump’s name out of the equation and ask yourself how you’d react to such news if the commander in chief happened to be Barack Obama.
Or George W. Bush.
Or, for that matter, ANY other president.
And how will Trump’s enablers in Congress react?
Sen. Martha McSally, for example, who has a long and deep history with the military. My guess is that with any other president she wouldn’t accept any political song and dance meant to rationalize or justify the lack of a response to a foreign power paying militants to kill Americans.
The apologists for Trump will try, however. They’ll know that inaction in the face of aggression toward American troops would have infuriated them under any other administration, but with Trump they will try to come up with something, anything, to help maintain their fealty.
They’ll try, but they’ll fail. Then they’ll have to pretend to believe the Russians.
Not because they’ve run out of excuses, but because there simply is no excuse for the inexcusable.
