When it comes to eating out, there’s no place like dome, as these diners found in Turkey.
The transparent social-distancing tents have sprung up at restaurants across the country to encourage safe post-lockdown meals.
Turkey, where 4,861 have died since March, eased coronavirus restrictions this month, prompting restaurants to introduce the novel idea to bring customers back.
Fresh air is pumped into the domes, which are disinfected with ozone and ultraviolet rays between bookings. Diners are also offered traditional Turkish cologne, which has a high enough ethanol content to kill viruses.

However, having relaxed lockdown rules, Turkish authorities were forced to make the wearing of masks mandatory yesterday in three major cities, including Istanbul, to curb a rise in cases after restaurants, gyms, parks, beaches and museums were allowed to reopen.
The governors of Istanbul, Ankara and Bursa announced the mask rule in line with a recommendation by the country’s scientific advisory council.
Masks are now obligatory in 47 out of 81 provinces and must be worn in all public spaces.
Turkey is seeing an upward trend in the daily number of infections after the government authorized cafes, restaurants, gyms, parks, beaches and museums to reopen, lifted inter-city travel restrictions and eased stay-at-home orders for the elderly and young.
Turkey has reported 182,727 confirmed cases and 4,861 deaths from Covid-19 since March.
