A Texas dad drove more than 1,100 miles to surprise his daughter with Chick-fil-A on her 19th birthday.
Julio Cesar Segura, 53, buys his daughter Diana Segura Lerma her favorite chicken sandwich from the fast food joint every year on her birthday.
The doting dad decided that he wasn't going to let the coronavirus pandemic get in the way of the tradition this year, so he hopped in the car at 4.15am to start the 17-hour, 1,152-mile round-trip journey from El Paso to Austin.
Diana, who is studying aerospace engineering at the University of Texas, had no idea that her father would be showing up at her door.

'He told me that since he couldn't do much, he wanted to know what I'd like for lunch and he would send an Uber Eats order,' Diana told South West News Service.
'He brings me that sandwich for lunch on my birthday every year - so far he hasn't missed a year.'

When Diana went to the door to meet the delivery driver, she was stunned to find Julio standing outside with a Chick-fil-A bag, balloons and a 'Happy Birthday' poster.
'I was so excited. I haven't seen him in months, since winter break. I didn't think that I would see him again until August,' Diana said.
'He has always been someone who loves gestures, but I never imagined he would do this in a pandemic.'

Julio said he made the decision to visit Diana very last minute, just hours before he got on the road.
'I love her and I wanted to make sure she had a good birthday,' he said.
He ended up staying for only about 30 minutes and never went into Diana's apartment due to concerns about spreading coronavirus.
Instead, the pair ate their meals six feet apart on the porch.
Diana admitted she was sad that she wasn't able to give her dad a hug.
'When you see a loved one and they come so far to see you, it's your instinct to hug them,' she said.
But both were very happy with how well the surprise went.
'I was the driving the whole day but I was so happy on the way back,' Julio said. 'She deserved a good birthday.'
