The Trump campaign abruptly canceled on Sunday night a three-day, three state bus tour of key swing states, led by Lara Trump, that was set to start Monday evening, with a stop in Michigan. Two stops were planned for Ohio on Tuesday, with one in Pennsylvania on Wednesday. A statement by the campaign cited “scheduling conflicts” as the reason for the cancellation. The campaign said the events would be rescheduled, but did not provide specifics.

Meanwhile no rallies by President Donald Trump are on the schedule, marking a break in the campaign holding rallies in states with primaries and caucuses in the past few months. Trump has said he plans to continue holding rallies during the coronavirus outbreak. Democrat presidential candidates Sen. Bernie Sanders (VT) and former Vice President Joe Biden continue to hold rallies. Sanders held several rallies in Michigan this weekend attended by thousands of supporters. Michigan’s primary is Tuesday.
Trump’s last rally was in Charlotte, North Carolina one week ago on March 2. Primaries in swing states Florida and Ohio are on March 17. Trump last held a rally in Ohio two months ago in Toledo. His last rally in Florida was in November in the town of Sunrise near Ft. Lauderdale. Biden and Sanders have announced plans for competing rallies in Ohio on Tuesday.
The only event with campaign principals on the schedule, as of Monday, is a Women for Trump event in York, Pennsylvania on March 18 featuring Second Lady Karen Pence and campaign national spokeswoman Kayleigh McEnany.
Several scheduled participants for the canceled bus tour have possible ties to the recent coronavirus scare at CPAC late last month. Trump campaign official Mercedes Schlapp is the wife of CPAC honcho Matt Schlapp who said he had “incidental contact” with the CPAC attendee who later tested positive for the virus. Schlapp says the person is in quarantine. Diamond and Silk (Lynnette Hardaway and Rochelle Richardson), reportedly may have been in a green room with the infected attendee.
Raheem Kassam, who attended CPAC and says he has come down with flu like symptoms and is trying to get tested for the coronavirus, posted a list of notables who may have been in proximity of the infected attendee on the first day of CPAC.
“Here are some of the other people who may have been in the green room on Thursday afternoon at the same time as the CPAC #coronavirus infectee: – Rep Louie Gohmert; Ronna McDaniel; Michael Knowles; Kay James; KellyAnne Conway;
Betsy Devos; Rep Matt Gaetz; Diamond/Silk.”
Matt Schlapp gave an update Monday stating he and his family are fine and that no other cases of coronavirus infection has been found among CPAC attendees.
“Woke up today and all the Schlapp’s are healthy. Same for entire @CPAC staff. My 80 year old Mom feels great. The State of Maryland did 2000 screenings around the Gaylord and found nothing concerning. We have no symptoms. Stay calm USA! Check your temp, if elevated call your doc…We still have just one person who came to @CPAC w Corona. He is being treated. NO NEW CASES. Department of Health has not called for any restrictions or quarantines. The key is symptoms. If you don’t have any that’s great news. If concerned check your temp. @cpac community is 👍🏻”

The Women for Trump bus tour was announced March 1 with an update on Thursday that added an extra appearance in Pennsylvania by Diamond and Silk who were originally only scheduled for the Dublin, Ohio stop.
