Marianne Williamson Slams ‘Left-Wing’ For Portraying Her As The ‘Crystal Woo Woo Lady’

Democratic presidential candidate Marianne Williamson criticized members of her own party on Saturday for not taking her campaign seriously and unfairly casting her as an out-there spiritual leader.
“This idea that I’m a crystal woo woo lady … the crystal woo woo lady image, to some extent amusing, has no relation to reality,” Williamson said during an interview with Yahoo News. “I’ve never had a crystal, I’ve never written about crystals. I’ve never talked about crystals. I’ve never had a crystal onstage with me.”
The Democratic hopeful launched a bid for the presidency in January 2019 despite having significantly lower name recognition than her primary opponents. However, she began to gain national attention and amass a following of her own after appearing at the Democratic National Committee’s (DNC) first presidential debate.
As Williamson’s campaign gained momentum, she faced increasing criticism over views that the media portrayed as anti-vaccine. She told Yahoo News that while she understands scrutiny is commonplace for political candidates, “something far more sinister was starting to happen” and the uniform attacks were part of a “well-designated strategy.”
“The words were all the same: ‘anti-science,’ ‘anti-medicine,’ ‘dangerous,’ ‘crazy,’ and ‘grifter.’ I mean, you couldn’t be clearer. Those were the words repeated in all of the articles, all of the stories,” Williamson said. “They were meant to create suspicion in people’s minds.”
“They were meant to create doubt, lest anybody even think of taking me seriously as a candidate,” she continued. “But I think at this point, just as that smear campaign cast doubt on my credibility, the fact that I’ve been out there, that people have heard me more themselves, people have seen my clips, enough has begun to cast doubt on the credibility of those who have projected onto me such mischaracterization.”
Williamson, a four-time bestselling author, further contended that the attempts to mock her candidacy and discredit her campaign have been perpetrated by “left-wing voices.”
“Unfortunately, the vicious smears have not been coming from Republicans,” she added.
This is not the first time that Williamson has expressed frustration with the treatment that her own side of the aisle has shown toward her. In September, she was caught on a hot mic after an interview questioning why conservatives have been more courteous to her despite her opposing political beliefs.
“What does it say that Fox News is nicer to me than the lefties are? What does it say that the conservatives are nicer to me? It’s such a bizarre world,” Williamson was recorded saying at the time. “You know, I’m such a lefty. I mean, I’m a serious lefty, but they’re so — I didn’t think the Left was as mean as the Right. They are.”
While Williamson failed to qualify for the DNC’s upcoming primary debate, it does not mean that she is ready to drop out of the  presidential race yet.
“My campaign is like a bonsai tree — a bonsai tree has everything that a big tree has, but it’s within the limits of those glass walls,” William said. “So, I have everything every campaign has, just less of it. I’ll have three field organizers, somebody else has 90.”
